There are demons in the world, but whether they are ally or enemy depends on where you stand and what you do. In Tokyo 199X, a mysterious murder leads to the emergence of demons and an escalating global conflict with the rise of a charismatic rebel leader in possession of a demon army, and external forces that wish to crush such threats with extreme measures. You, the protagonist, have an unusual ability enabled by a computer program that lets you communicate with and recruit demons to your side. As you collect demons, the program will allow you to store, summon, and fuse them to create the right team to negotiate the ever-changing balance of powers, and fight for the kind of world you ultimately wish to live in. ATLUS’s revolutionary RPG series, Shin Megami Tensei, began on the Super Nintendo in 1992, and has gone on to sell millions of copies worldwide. It has further given rise to other hit RPG titles, including Persona, Devil Summoner, and Devil Survivor. Previously available only in Japan, this, the very first Shin Megami Tensei game, is available in English for the first time ever. Key features: - 40-60 hours of consuming RPG adventure - Explore dungeons and recruit demons to your party - Collect and fuse demons to make ever stronger demons - Your decisions will determine the fate of the world This application is not supported by iOS 11. Please be aware of this before deciding on your purchase. Those who purchase this game will still be able to play/reinstall this application as long as the OS supports it. The game looks good, but this version looks like a poor and rough port. It's not even an universal app, for God sake! In fact it doesn't even look like a port. It looks more like an emulator. Low quality emulator. Shaun Musgrave Well-Known Member Jul 8, 2013 1,088 3 38 Freelance writer, teacher, business owner Ibaraki, Japan #7 Shaun Musgrave, Nov 3, 2014 That's a pretty impressive emulator, changing the soundtrack to the PSX version's and adding a demon compendium no other version has had. This port could have been better, but this is still one of the best RPGs on iPhone. Same price as a Kemco game and orders of magnitude better. undeadcow Well-Known Member Dec 4, 2010 9,486 2 36 Houston, TX #8 undeadcow, Nov 3, 2014 Picked this up in a heartbeat with the sale. Only reason I didnt earlier was because of backlog. Nice to see legacy RPGs on iOS. Tis like a mature-content pokemon. wingsofdestiny89 Well-Known Member Oct 2, 2012 168 0 16 SG #11 wingsofdestiny89, Nov 4, 2014 I wouldn't say it's like Pokemon but close enough. undeadcow Well-Known Member Dec 4, 2010 9,486 2 36 Houston, TX #12 undeadcow, Nov 4, 2014 Shin Megami Tensei 1, I haven't played much yet, but it's a first person RPG with turn based combat vaguely similar to The Quest or QuestLord on iOS (but dated as SMT is a 1993 game and with standard definition graphics). It's a party based system so you have a squad of characters (maybe like SilverSword on iOS). The plot has a modern apocalyptic good versus evil vibe unlike anyone on iOS. What is unique about Shin Megami Tensei, the aspect EP is trying to describe, is a monster/demon collecting aspect where you bribe/coerce/negotiate with monsters to join your squad and ultimately monsters can be fused to create new combinations. SMT is a niche game interesting to be for it's historic value, unique theme, and monster fusing system but for a general audience there might be more accessible RPGs to start with. Im playing it emulated on the android tab, and it's simply a fantastic game to play. Talbs Well-Known Member May 1, 2011 2,616 377 83 #15 Talbs, Mar 29, 2015 For persona 3, I just can't stand how they shoot themselves in the head for their attacks. What the hell. Would be interested in playing that game seriously, but the shoot yourself in the head 10 or more times a battle is just so wrong. Sorry to derail. Shyft Well-Known Member Jun 12, 2013 129 0 0 #16 Shyft, Mar 30, 2015 Uh if it were a real gun sure. Did you actually play the game? Just curious, not trying to be rude. Talbs Well-Known Member May 1, 2011 2,616 377 83 #17 Talbs, Mar 30, 2015 No I didnt. Watched plenty of gameplay footage on YouTube in deciding not too. I get it that it's not a real gun. But the action is exactly that. Basically every move you make in battles, is exactly that. Gun to head and shoot yourself. Unless there's some amazing intricate story detail about why they use this animation, written into the story that I would've missed form watching just the gameplay, I'm sure they could've just used any other gesture. I'm not at all denying that it could be even the best game of all time (exaggerating to be clear). But your character pulling a gun and shooting itself in the head every 10 seconds...hmmm Thread derailed ha. Exact-Psience Well-Known Member Jan 12, 2012 22,664 3 38 The Work-At-Home Guy Philippines #18 Exact-Psience, Mar 30, 2015 The characters arent mages, so using the spells of their persona requires an invoker. The gun is an invoker. Thing is, every other game uses the same casting animations when using spells or even skills, that you dont even notice the animation has been done in about a hundred games already. Using the gun in SMTP3 is actually one of the most unique casting animation for spells. Thread may be derailed, but i dont think not by much. P3 is an indirect sequel which shows the intriguing direction the series went when compared to other standard RPGs. That said, i recommend everyone to get SMT if you like monster collection. Be warned though, that this isnt for kids like Pokemon is. The game is also pretty hard, and there is no IAP to revive characters with. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
