Agreed since the game is broke from launch, you would have thought an expedited patch would have been called for, because as it stands you have my cash and I have no game. Will be hitting apple for a refund this is a joke of a release
Not the developers fault at all. If you can't stand not having a patch right away go the Android route. I've had the patch for almost a week now. (not starting an android vs apple debate, i have both). Apple's Achilles heel has always been their archaic review system.
Exactly. I would have preferred they actually did testing on iOS 7, and the fact that they didn't frustrates me a lot. As developers, the beta was readily available. Not preparing for that was a serious problem. But what is done is done. Now we have to wait. Sadly I'm tired of waiting, as the game isn't complete without the sound, something that plays a large part of the universe. While the system may take a while, sometimes too long, we are protected from the rampant stupidity of Android apps. It is a frustrating trade off, but we take what we can get. Oh agreed. But for those of us who don't game on PCs, we take what we can get. This just brings back memories of games in the past that a quick fix takes weeks to hit. I don't believe this was pushed as an expedited fix. A standard fix, sure, but if it was expedited under the guidelines, it would have been out before the weekend was over. Alas, we wait. And wait.
It's frustrating. The patch wasn't expedited, clearly. Jeff, can you please investigate what is going on and ask Apple to expedite the patch? This is a big one for us, and it's now been a whole week. We'd already waited 2 months for the tablet version, and I bought the second it appeared in the App Store, but to be missing the music is missing a huge part of the game, so I'm out $10 and the game is sitting there, taunting me. Apple allows a specific number of super high priority patches. If this had been pushed through within their guidelines, we wouldn't be talking right now. As for the link to your forums, it's incredibly frustrating to navigate, as it's not segregated into sections, and any mobile talk is lost in countless PC threads, so while I appreciate the invite, I think maybe even another section for mobile related talk will be necessary to entice anyone to contribute and discuss the iPad/android ports.
But they don't necessarily grant it just because it is requested. Apple may have decided that a sound issue was not a critical bug. If there is widespread crashing or the app is somehow unusable they will grant the expedited (usually 1 or 2 day) review, and obviously that didn't happen here. I don't know if these developers requested one. I'm just saying we don't know for certain that they didn't.
Havent played the game since it came out bc of missing sound. yes, thats a big game breaker to me if background musics (that add atmosphere) is missing. cant agree on other voices, but to ask if those voices are from gamers? today, a week later, Im getting tired of waiting for a patch. And Im occupied with TT. Great , hu? 9....for nothing so far.
Played it, loved it, didn't give a crap about the sound. I'm sure it'll be fixed when we get some of the top user generated content. Only complaints on it are it is very brief and linear. Also for those yet to play, the street samurai sounds cool but I think it is probably the most boring to play as (speaking from experience).
Which could be easily confirmed by HBS. I've seen expedited fixes go through for minute issues many times before, this should have been no different. Maybe I'm wrong, but if they didn't test on iOS 7 and seemed to be completely unfamiliar with its submission at the onset then I don't trust that they're really familiar with the process, and thst would likely explain why, a whole week later, there's still no freaking patch.
I have waited from the very first announcement here and I waited for weeks until it was released for iOS. And I am ready to wait more, because I really like the game and I am still playing it. I don't care for the sound-bug and I believe the devs are doing everything thats possible ro get they're baby on the go!
Concerning Crashes and Patches Hello again ToouchArcade! First off I would like to apologize for my absence yesterday, turns out not enough sleep and cold weather can get you sick! Now on to the stuff you care about, Shadowrun Returns! I am personally tracking down the cause and trying to reproduce the frequent crashes that users are reporting on iPad Mini and iPad 2. My latest theory is that if your device has little to no free space in memory that crashes may be the cause, that or there are applications running in the background. If you would like to help out this process then please contact me via PM with information about what device you are running Shadowrun Returns on and how much free memory you have. Feel free to also include any information you feel may be relevant and I will try to work with you as best I can to get you playing again! As for news from Apple, or contacting Apple about the patch, there is little I can do. I would like to tell you that our inside man at Apple has been taken hostage and a daring rescue is in order to expedite out patch. However we do not have such a man so a rescue operation would lead us nowhere fast. As such all we can do is wait with baited breath along side you for our patch to come out. Your HBS Contact,
Jeff - When patches are submitted to Apple, there is the option to request the patch be expedited. Was that done or not? I am trying to be patient and understanding, I really am, and defended you guys tooth and nail regarding the 2+ month delay on the iPad release. But the fact of the matter is that this game was not tested on iOS 7 at all before it released. One of the most common issues with iOS 7 and games not optimized are crashes. I read on the HBS forums that a user who has a mini and 5 GB free is getting more crashes than a lot of people who are playing fine with no extra space. I'm still unsure of the direct correlation between free storage space and the game itself. Do saves REALLY take up that much space?
I am sure that Apple is doing the best they can. We just have to wait in line with the rest of the apps in iTunes. The extra free space is just speculation on my part, not a solid fact, and as such I am investigating it with the devices that we have in office. Thanks for your patience!
Was having the same crashing issues on my ipad mini, I turned on Aeroplane mode and I've just had my first game of it, I got way way further than I had been previously without a crash, Don't no why but using Aeroplane mode seems to have fixed it for me, I really hope it helps some of you guys out until we get a fix! Ipad mini 32gb used 15.6gb free 12.5gb (info) Running no apps in BG crashes anytime no particular cause ie.pause
this is just me talking but how about those that have crashes and have a pc or mac send jeff the crash log so maybe they could find the problem more easily
