Normally I'd agree but after putting more time in the beta, there seems to be no items that can't be got through in game currency that is earned in each match. Assists, kills, zones all earn currency and I'm averaging about 2000 a match. Iap, I'm guessing as its not available on the beta, just gives you more cash. But there is a ranking xp system as well which I assume limits you're options on whether an item is locked or unlocked. The beta is definitely very well balanced. Much more than I expected. There is some lag today but seemedly much more servers are coming on board before release.
Thats not what i meant at all guys, I think its the right size, I was merely stating the reason why it wasnt as big as some Gameloft games. Sorry for misunderstanding.
This is an addicting online Third Person Shooter game. Loving the beta build on my S3. Can't wait to play this game on my iPad3.
It does have the cover system but I am not sure about the weapons since I still hasn't played the original game up until now. It is just sitting there on my Purchased list. Lol.
Rip73?< i've a few questions that i'd like to ask you since you played the beta version, 1- does this game have a kill/death ratio? 2- does it also have a ranking system for all players ? 3- how easy is it to find matches? & finally how varied are the maps? thank you
It's cool that this game is coming out in my Birthday. Now if only MC4 came out this Thursday, then my life would be complete!
1. Haven't seen a k/d ratio stats counter yet but I've focused on gameplay only. If its not there it'll be in the final build. 2. Yes, it has a proper xp related ranking system. 3. Simple. Loads of matches going on in the beta. Easy as pie. 4. Only 2 maps as yet in the beta. One smallish inside with two levels, each side a mirror of the other. One large outside with bunkers, multiple height levels, objects to cover behind, stairs and stuff. Again, its only the beta so not the full release. Unsure as yet how many maps and the details of the final build. The weapons are different designs mostly from the campaign game and a decent choice available. No voice chat. Thankfully on my part. Listening to some people on voice chat tends to drive me nutty. It is becoming very addictive. Few glitches with server lag (no framerate issues, not bad software as some would have you believe, simply not enough servers online yet) and hit detection but I'd expect glitches in a beta.
Is there a way to play games with just other iPhone owners? I dont want to play vs THAT (see picture), feels like playing against a cheater.
Ok guys. Some serious stuff here before release. I think some time back, Madfinger said that Deadzone would employ friendly IAPs. That is NOT the case. I think Rip may also allude to the fact that with IAPs, you instantly can get the best guns, perks and what-not...all cheat stuff basically. In an inherently online mp game, this screws up the balance MASSIVELY. So yeah, my prediction is that unless you spend some $$, you'll just play for a while and then stop. The amount of $$ earned per game is nothing to shout about either. Second thing is, the game is cross platform. Which is great, but not. Even for Android gamers alone, this is a nightmare. Why? Because physical controllers are natively supported. I plugged in my old PS2 controller and my God, the difference was astounding. So much easier to aim, shoot, sprint, roll...all these AT ONCE!! So yeah, these two things will be a dealbreaker for many. Actually, had Madfinger allowed us to choose who to play with by creating password protected matches, or to play locally via wifi/bluetooth, the problem wont be so bad. But Madfinger wont do that, because that wouldnt incite people to splurge on IAPs. All in, this game has got really sound gameplay mechanics. Fundementally, it is the most advanced online shooter (heck, any kind of shooter!) on mobile devices, but the direction in which they have decided to take the game, especially wrt IAPs is sad. I really would have supported them if IAPS were for additional maps, characters...or if they decided to put a quote on the number of playable hours. But IAPs for none of these, and only for in-game currency, is never nice, not when it affects competitiveness in an online arena. PS: Taking everything into account, Nova 3 is better. Whether you are Lvl 1 or 99, whether you bought IAPs or not (even if there's a $99 option), there is no real advantage. Slightly yes, but not majorly.
Yeah I average abt 2000 as well. But then, considering that there are MANY MANY weapon levels, and then perks and what not, 2000 is little. The cheapest gun costs 3500 I think, and these run into 80000+. The fact you can buy healing packages sucks. I don't remember this in Nova 3.
That's some good info on guys. The cross platform vs a playstation controller does seem like an advantage. One note though... to Defred, do you have to end your sentences with Nova 3? coz we all know this is entirely different, and Nova 3 has been using a tried and tested Gameloft FPS multiplayer formula and Madfinger doesnt have any yet. What i like about Madfinger is their conviction to improve their games. I expect them to do no less for this title. Any flaw observed and pointed out is appreciated, but calling them off this early doesnt sound... proper. The game isnt even out for iOS yet. Good not on the IAPs though. You're right about having better IAPs if it were to unlock new skins, maps, etc. Are the weapons really imbalanced though? EDIT: ah... weapon levels. Doesnt sound too good with regards to game balance.
I hope this will be good, because with MC4 on the upcoming horizon if not then some people will go get their multiplayer fix with MC4.
Seeing how the IAP seems intrusive and even game breaking by reading defred's impressions, I'd be surprised of anyone preferred this over MC4.
There's no way people will choose this game over mc4... but the graphics are awesome on Shadowgun Deadzone. The game is free, and I believe I'm going to enjoy this game a lot. If I want real competitive multiplayer. I will play mc4 on iOS.
