Ahh, got me there. But it was a port of the PS2 game. It wasn't independently created for the iOS, so therefore I doubt SG will be as good as it (nor as long). But we shall see.
Yeah definitely... As you said one can only hope. What's the longest Gameloft game that was created solely for iOS?
In terms of content/levels or replayabilty? I have been sucked up by MC2: BP for its multiplayer, but otherwise Spiderman, but I don't know for sure.
In terms of the single-player campaign mode, I mean. I guess it could be Ganstar: MV, right? (Not sure as I don't own it)
I'm just hoping it turns out awesome. Sure, they're not exactly known for great storylines or anything (which is why I'm a bit afraid of that RPG they're making), but this seems to be almost completely action oriented, which we all know they can handle perfectly well. In fact, the only action game I would say that they screwed up was Iron Man 2, which was more mediocre than plain awful. Plus, they work with Ubisoft, who makes some pretty sick games (Like Prince of Persia for instance). Simply put, I'm really, really looking forward to this. I just need to get my iPod 4 first before it comes out.
http://www.touchgen.net/gameloft-media-event "...and each had greater draw distance seen in other games (iPhone 4 only)..." So will it look like crap on my 3GS?
I don't think Iron Man 2 flopped, it has about the same amount of ratings as their other games. Also I think Shadow Guardian will turn out every bit as good as PoP, but then again I didn't think much of that game. I like Pop but the second one was a huge disappointed.
Yeah, and even though there's a lot of hate for IM2, I actually quite enjoyed it, (But then again I got it while it was .99 cents). You mean the second PoP game was a dissapointment to you on the PS2 and the iOS, or just on the iOS?
Shadow Guardian will release in december http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/02/gameloft-announces-nova-2-and-the-uncharted-inspired-shadow-guar/ Mobile games publisher Gameloft is showing no signs of slowing down. The company announced its upcoming slate of iOS games at a press conference in Paris today, including sequels to some of the company's most successful properties, such as Asphalt 6: Adrenaline and NOVA 2, a follow-up to the company's Halo-inspired portable FPS. NOVA 2 adds new weapons and new enemies (with jetpacks!) and will offer multiplayer. Not only does it continue the story of the first game, but will reward players of the original with bonus XP. Perhaps of most interesting title was Gameloft's new IP, Shadow Guardian (pictured above). In typical Gameloft fashion, Shadow Guardian bears more than a little resemblance to other popular console games, notably Uncharted and Tomb Raider: You travel through a variety of locations, from temples to cities, climbing and leaping through the environment in search of treasure. In addition to the requisite puzzle-solving, you'll also be able to shoot your way through waves of enemies, taking cover, blind-firing, and rushing in for melee kills. Yes, you've seen all of this before -- but have you seen it running on an iPhone? All of these games should be available later this month, "before Christmas."
According to Pocket Gamer, this is a post-Christmas release. Who knows who to believe, but there are actually 6 announced titles from Gameloft and I doubt that any more than 3 of those games are released before Christmas. NOVA 2 and Asphalt 6 will come out before Christmas, for certain. Out of the other 4, likely only 1 will make it. We'll see.
Since according to pocketgamer, the game still have some issues with the controls, if that would be the case then maybe Shadow Guardian is due for release early next year. Maybe Dungeon Hunter 2 will be joining Nova 2 & Asphalt 6 for december release...
If you click on the link, in the article I had listed, Joystiq are the ones saying "before Christmas"... Just because Pocketgamer had some issues with controls, that may have not been a final build of the game they were playing. Then again, Gameloft never listens to feedback and just releases their titles. Buggy or not. So I don't expect them to listen to Pocketgamer and revamp too much. If it comes out before, great. If not, that's great too. I honestly don't think Dungeon Hunter II will see release anytime soon. Gameloft would release a new trailer, before they'd ever release it. I'm guessing they went back and decided to really polish DHII, visually, after Epic Citadel came along...
do you guys remember a while back when Gameloft released 4 or 5 games in one month? It was around the time when Prince of Persia was released. I have a feeling they might be doing something similar this month too. Maybe most of their games are done and just going throughs some polishing like PacificSun said. But if you think about it, NOVA2, Asphalt 6, Dungeon Hunter 2, and Shadow Guardian might come out on the 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th. You never know...
