Has anyone else been able to get their hands on it. I was able thanks to my cousin (employed by google for 5+ years now), and damn if it isn't a fine piece of technology. The way all the apps work together is really neat, as is the built in navigation. I'm really strongly tempted to switch now. I really hope that Apple is ready to get serious and has some great ideas up it's sleeve, because it finally has a worthy competitor (screw the Palm Pre, that phone is trash by comparison).
Dude, what is with you and bashing on the iPhone on an iPhone gaming forum? It's always about "oh this is so much better than iPhone" or "Nokia phones are better". Seriously dude, Android has long ways to go before beating out the competition. 100,000 apps in the App Store versus 10,000 in Android for one. Two, the Android has been cut off in terms of investment from major publishers like Gameloft because the iPhone provides a larger profit for them. And three, according the Engadget's review, the phone is just like any other Android phone. I look at the Nexus One as an over-hyped phone, with nothing really to boast about other than a nice camera and the Snapdragon chip inside. Other than that, the reason Android phones can't take off is because of Android itself. Lack of apps, productivity, etc. Just putting in my two cents on what I think about the Nexus One.
There is no other phone that scrolls like the iPhone. The Nexus might be a nice contender at the moment but once June 27th comes around and we see the iPhone 4G people will say Nexus what?
Apple has always announced the newest gen iPhone on June 27, and the newest gen iPod Touch in September (I forgot the date).
I played with it and it look impressive but when you have a media orientated need it falls flat. The games on there are few and far between. The apps are pretty cool but no where near iPhone level (when most of it anyways). The Palm Pre on the other hand is pretty much like an iPhone and just look at Palm's CES presentation. They pulled a couple of pages from Apple. Anyways here what I see about the phone war in general. Android=Linux which means if you want a pretty much custom software and such go with it. Palm Pre=iPhone (most of it) with a keyboard and new UI and go look over at some of their 3D games, a direct port from us. iPhone=the de facto phone when it comes down to it all of these phones try to emulate it and add a little bit of change but generally iPhone is more easier, more apps, more entertainment, poor AT&T (added one for you guys out there in anti apple camp ) service.
Doesn't mean it will be 4g knowing apple, it will probably be 3GS^2 lol. And to the guy who said nexus is a overhyped phone, same can be said about the iPhone, but you got one thing spot on, the app store is really what distinguishes apple fro the rest. And it's the only reason I love my iPhone so much
Regardless if my iPhone had an app store or not it is still the #1 phone. It has all the basic functions and does it better than any other phone. Coming from Palm/BB's/WinMo phones, the iPhone is without a doubt the best phone my family has every had.
In my opinion, the iPhone wouldn't be a phone without the App Store. 3.0 megapixels, 600 Mhz (around there), and not many functions. Nexus One, I must admit, is a lot better than the iPhone in terms of specs. 1 Ghz, 5.0 megapixel camera, flash photo, and some other stuff I can't remember off the top of my mind. As a phone, I have to admit that Nexus One is better. But as an all around device, iPhone beats the Nexus by a large margin.
You can only kill the iPhone when you kill the appstore. Like I said Wikoogle, the user experience is what separates Apple from the rest of the pack, not specs.
Actually, there are a lot of people complaining about the Nexus One here in Singapore. They had 3G issues (surfed the Interwebz at 500kbps on the Nexus One, 3000kbps on other smartphones, like the iPhone. ), and now they're calling HTC 'hard to connect'. I still love my iPhone, and I doubt I'll be replacing it anytime soon for a non-iPhone phone.
I think the Nexus One makes a great phone, but people buy iPhones (and obviously iPod Touches) for other reasons that the Nexus can't compete with.
What I really love about my iphone is that i can listen to music while surfing the web or texting you can also listen to music or watch videos while on the phone (although it is hard). I multitask alot so this is my perfect phone. I hate just listening to music along. I need to be doing something else.
If it didn't have a trakball I would seriously think about switching and geting an iPod for my games.
I love Nexus One.Its really very good smart phone. The CPU speed is amazing Its really superfast device. The voice recognition feature is very cool. This Device will now includes a new pinch-to-zoom mechanism in the phone's Browser, Gallery and Maps applications. It also includes Google navigation map which include a night mode that automatically changes the screen for optimized night time driving.
