Literally. I installed two YouTube extensions and now I get this - No ads, and default widescreen! For mac users here, I highly recommend the extension upgrade. Any other extensions I should be aware of? Or maybe people have been doing this somehow on Safari for awhile and I'm just now discovering it?
You can install Greasemonkey in Safari and then use the scripts on that page. http://steeev.freehostia.com/wp/2010/07/19/new-extension-for-safari-5-called-ninjakit-lets-you-install-gm-scripts/
I went back to safari like 2 days ago. Migrated from Chromium , too buggy, and also google collecting all my information wasn't a deal breaker for me. Do you guys recommend some extensions ? Cheers!!
Im using YoutubeWide A Cleaner YouTube AdBlock All work really well, and you don't have to do any work with scripts. Just go to the extensions gallery, click install and thats it.
These are the ones I'm using right now.. AutoPagerize - This one I absolutely love. It loads the next page automatically(in the same page) when you reach the end of the page. Checking out blogs, forums, other sites (like appshopper) is a much better experience now. It has some annoying problems though. They need to add a menu bar button to stop it from loading the current page if you wish. But other than that, I found it extremely useful. NoMoreitunes - A real life saver for me. Stops safari from opening itunes when all you intended to do was check out the web preview of an app. GMail Counter - Neatly displays the number of unread emails with a subject preview of last dozen or so mails when you hover the mouse over it. Translate - One-click access to google translated version of your current tab. As far as that youtube extension, other ad blocking extensions are concerned, I dont really like the idea of blocking ads on a service which you are getting for free Only coz it's supported by ads. Not that I pay attention to these ads or click on them, just that it doesnt feel right IMO.
I don't use CleanerYouTube (despite it looking nice), but I do use YouTubeWide. Other extensions I'm using: Daring Fireball with Comments Helvetireader AutoPagerize NoMoreiTunes MacThemesClean Facebook Photo Zoom
Is anyone experiencing Safari using A LOT of RAM when extensions are ON ? I've read lot's and lot's of reports, and today Safari was taking 700 MB RAM here. Any input on that ?
