Scott Roeder recently shot Dr. George Tiller in the head, point-blank, in church because George Tiller operated a late-term abortion clinic and Scott Roeder has been a born again "Christian" since the early ninties, due to an episode to "The 700 Club" or whatever that propagandist show is called.

I was just wondering what all of your views on this were.

I personally believe in 'freedom of choice' but late-term abortion just doesn't sit right with me, unless extenuating circumstances apply, as in getting raped, for example. I view late-term abortion as a cop-out for the parents that couldn't make their minds up until the last second(not that there aren't those particular cases where things[copulation] just happen). I'm no Christian nor do I subscribe to any religion.

I think what this guy did(Scott Roeder) was despicable and outright uncalled for(as the old childhood proverb says: "two wrongs don't make a right"). He did indeed save some lives of unborn children for the time being, but it's not going to help his cause, I feel, because he's the one that ends up looking(not to mention acting) like and animal and I feel he should have kept going through the proper channels in order to make late-term abortion illegal(the court system, however flawed it might be).

Now don't get me wrong, I've done some rather 'radical' things in my time in order to get a point across or create change but I think that Roeder took it way too far in the name of "God". He said that he killed because he thought it would save lives. Kinda sickeningly ironic huh?

Would this have ever happened if not for the creation of the notion of religion?

    Please post your thoughts below...

Early abortion, erm, not exactly a fan of it, but better than a kid being born with no parents, dumped in an over-crowded orphanage, to be raised by the state.

Late abortion, though, is sickening. Murder, though, I mean, it's just as bad.

All these things are pretty ****ed up. I can't even form an opinion.

He may have saved the lives of a few unborn children, but he's just ruined the lives of their parents. Plus, who's to say these kids are going to have nice lives anyway? They're going to be born unwanted, possibly thrown into adoption or even abandoned, and if their parents do decide to keep them they may be subject to poor living conditions due to poverty or whatever other troubles the parents have.

I don't exactly condone abortion, but I'm pro-choice for the women in those difficult situations. Ideally of course, they should make their minds up as soon as possible.

Well both men deserve to be locked up for life in the same cell as KGameLover1. A fate worse than death.

    Late-term abortion isn't just a embryo though, it's a fully-formed person that has yet to be born(typically)

I'm not against abortion when the 'killing' is actually just getting rid of a bit of tissue that could possibly(sans still-born) become a fully formed human child if the situation for the parents isn't right(ie - they could be addicts of a certain chemical that could create a terrible existence for the child growing-up which in a lot of cases = perpetuating the same viscous cycle of ignorant, non-sexually-'protected', drug-addled violent folks[worst-case scenario, mind you]) .

In late-term abortions they actually use a, I believe, glass 'tool' of sorts to suck out the insides of the, well basically infants head to collapse it, then they pull out the rest of the body, intact, and get rid of it one way or the other.

That's a quite a bit more grim than just giving someone a shot to kill a patch of tissue...

    UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-GREED!

    Although it'd be a bit pointless to lock-up a corpse...(Tiller, obviously) :p

Don't really know the fella/dame(KGame) personally, but I've read some of his/her posts ;)

    No offense KGame!

    anyone....anyone....?

Come on, please share your honest view on abortion and this case in particular. I've talked to friends about similar situations, but we tend to have similar views on matters such as this, so I'd love some points of view that differ from mine. If they are genuine opinions/POV's, that is.

For me, I have to agree with others that both sides are quite grim...

But, as a suggestion, wait until morning things get pretty quiet around here at this time.

I am against abortion, especially late term abortions. If you have seen pictures of late term abortions, it is pretty sick.

That being said, I am also against killing people.

Well, he got life for 1 count of premeditated murder. Took the jury 37 minutes. Serves him right. Also I'm not against abortions, a woman should have the right to choose. Also late terms IMO are not horrible because has the baby taken a breath of air? No. Has it made memories? No. IMO not a person yet
