I'm wondering that too, because I thought I started a fire somewhere but apparently didn't...now I have no fire starting materials
Depending on where you are in the game you may find more. I felt that there generally was a good surplus of fire-starting materials. BTW, are talking about the kiln? That's the root of my problem actually - so far (nearly 3/5 through the game, IMHO) if something had multiple applications, there had been enough materials for the items to be created in any order. But now I hit a bottleneck, where apparently in 2 separate cases there was just one unit of material and it seems that I made wrong items from it to progress further. Items that can't be disassembled either. I'd like to know if something like that is possible or if I am just missing things.
Maybe I'm an idiot but I'm stuck. I combined things to make a fire but I can't put the fire in the pit. I can't make a knife bc I used the metal to make a lighter ugh they need clues on here
You probably didn't make a fire. Fire consists of small combustible, big combustible (in this case driftwood IIRC, later also coal) and a spark from flint and steel. There is a wheel on inventory screen. Pass an assembled item over the wheel and it will disassemble. There is a small icon that identifies items that can be taken apart. You won't be able to do so with fire (flint and steel don't get used up to create it and always remain available) or food though or with chemicals. My advice is to make a knife ASAP.
Thanks for the help. I finished the game last night but something was not right because when I got inside the ship and the robot asked me the questions I was not able to click on a single thing. Oh well. At least I know I finished. There are some bugs. I did things out of order and it really should not make a difference. Great game! I wish it was longer. It also needs some hints vs. making one read spoilers. At some points if I had a tiny hint it would have made the game more enjoyable vs. asking for the answer. Hope the 2nd one will come out soon!
Heh, if you didn't use spoilers it would have been long enough . I am still stuck in chapter 3, for instance and probably will have to re-start it and do things in a different order to get ahead. I do use hotspot indicators, though, since tapping all over the screen is much more obnoxious than mousing ditto on PC. Well, the sequel has been submitted to Apple a week ago, IIRC.
I have the latest version of Return to Mysterious Island, and I am using the link within the game to the walkthrough, so it should be for the iphone version. It still says to combine the firewood with items to get fire. No where in the walkthrough does it say where to get the firewood. The pc version walkthrough says it is by the kiln, but it isn't there. I have searched everywhere and can't find the firewood to make the fire to fire the pottery to hold the water. I would really appreciate your help I have been stuck here for many hours.
Baalbergen and all others looking for the firewood in the iPhone version of RTMI: THERE IS NO FIREWOOD. USE THE PALM LEAF found by the coconut grove on the beach, all the way to the right with the crabs. it replaces the firewood as a big combustible. palamir, you should replace this error in the walkthrough. I too spent hours looking and clicking about for that blasted wood. great game though.
I apologize for resurrecting such an old thread, but I'm hoping you folks can help me. The link to the pdf walkthrough within the Return to Mysterious Island app no longer works. Does anyone from this thread still have it? I know this game is pretty old by iOS standards, but it's worth a shot...
