*sigh*........so its come to this. Ok, I'd rather heed helpful advice than get burned in the end so closing out my cc for a bit.
Better safe than sorry, but I doubt the security hole is in iTunes itself. More likely either a keylogger or phishing site users have willingly entered their details into.
Thanks for the heads up. Better safe than sorry. Pretty dumb company to think they'd go unnoticed! At least do it gradually!
http://www.free-av.com/ it gives you annoying popups when you update, but you can easily turn that off. http://www.wikihow.com/Remove-the-Popup-Ads-in-Avira-Antivir
Fortunately I already unlinked my card from itunes the other day. The app store is too much like a candy store to me and there's way too many good impulse purchases I shouldn't be spending my money on
Totally ****ing exaggerated. A couple of accounts get hacked cuz they have their password as 1234 and Engadget naturally decides to blow it way out of proportion for page views.
Huh, I've just been looking over my bank statements online, I haven't touched my ipod in over a week, but there's an outgoing i-tunes payment for £1.18 dated today. But surely if it was teh haxxors they would spend much much more right?
Easy on Engadget.. They may want page views, but at least they're not Gizmodo *throws up* Also, if you actually read their article, you'd know that this is a pretty widespread problem considering how all these books/apps are dominating the charts. "A couple of accounts getting hacked" wouldn't be enough to steamroll that kind of activity. I actually read at another site that the folks stealing account information start with tiny transactions, and eventually make a huge one. Keep an eye on your statement and Purchase History, just in case.
How DARE you criticize Gizmodo. They are a good read. I personally like Gawker's io9, Kotaku, and Gawker (Main site).
They are one of the most immature and "for the hits" blogs I've ever seen. I used to have fun reading their stories a year ago, but over the past three or four months I've been realizing they are really subpar, and they're more annoying than anything. At least Engadget is always 100% truthful in their headlines and none of their stories reek of flamebait or "hit-hunting".
