I've never found any of those hybrid sim arcade racers to be of any good, they usually end up being poor versions of each slapped together. Maybe someone who's played preview builds of the game can tell us if the "arcade mode" of Real Racing feels like Need For Speed, Asphalt, etc.
In terms of arcade racers, NFS is the best available in iTunes. But when it comes to racing sims, Real Racing may be what many have been waiting for. Personally, NFS is great for what it is, but there are those of us who want a more realistic experience. I'm not saying that Real Racing will deliver that, but it's a strong possibility.
Eli you lucky son of.........well you're just a lucky bastard. How would you say it compares to NFS? How's drifting?
+1. NFS is a decent arcade racer, but it doesn't offer the same experience as something like Gran Turismo. Hopefully RR can fill that gap! I think what he's saying is that when you turn the settings down its a much easier game and more accessible like most arcade racers. Ramp those settings up and you get the full-on sim experience, being able to perfect your racing line, braking points, overtaking maneuvers etc. Thats what I hope he meant anyway! Real Racing is a track racer, with a more sim like approach so drifting, although probably possible, will not be the focus like in games like NFS, Fast & Furious or Fastlane.
It's good. It's real good. I'm starting to think I've said too much, and this is probably pushing it- http://toucharcade.com/2009/06/03/real-racing-weve-got-it-and-its-unbelievable/
We want to know EVERYTHING... As much as you have to say or can type about the gameplay and features.
kk well i havent even opened the game yet, busy at e3. ill try my hardest to have a writeup by tonight
Ugh. I am not looking forward to my itunes bill. Honestly, with games coming out of this quality, I have to believe Nint and SonyPSP are concerned. I truly thought we'd have to wait for an Nvidia Tegra powered device to be able to get quality like this on a phone. Simply amazing.
Whew, now with this out of the way you can focus on more important things like Flight Control 2! (just being a twit, apologizing in advance )
OS 3.0 add's the ability to use bluetooth for app's so some local MP would be great without having to use a network, online play should also be something to think about adding too especially when using wifi spots, phone net connections may be too latency prone.
That will be impossible, unless a bluetooth dongle was added. The ipod touch 2g has a special bluetooth type of radio for the stupid Nike shoe insert.
Correction. The iPod Touch 1G will not but the 2G has the Bluetooth chip and it is being unlocked to do things such as P2P with 3.0.
Touch/phone 1g loses out on bluetooth which is a big shame, but the 2nd and 3rd iphone and touch 2g should be fine with using it. It's something I hope more people start to include once 3.0 is out.
