I agree. It takes way too long to get a hat of legend. I have re-rolled 7 times and still haven't gotten one. It has kind of deflated my excitement for the game.
I skip the 15 torches in one game, level 15 in one game and 200 kills in one game. The barrier to skip them is too low to be wasting 100+ attempts at them. You can earn the cash in 3-4 good runs. For the 100-hit combo, I found that if I go very slow and deliberate, I can get it pretty easily. Try pushing along a skeleton skull until when you think your combo might expire, then punch it into the next enemy to keep the combo going. I also keep it going by punching torches.
The 15 torches wasn't that hard for me(I go slow, pause near them and uppercut+slam the torch. Or if I have a power up like exploding fist makes it soo much easier.) . Nor the 100 combo(I pretty much use your technique except I focus on bats and torches to keep my combo up). But the 200 enemies...damn. And the one time I completed it I get the "no reward" bug. Haha
Aww I really do hope sales pick up! I've put in $9 myself so far, for what it's worth. Have you guys considered putting the pets and other stuff together as an IAP expansion? I think what has been offered for free so far is more than enough to qualify as a good paid game, so I can't see putting a price tag on future features being considered "evil" or greedy or whatever.
If its the last update can we get boot re-coloring please? hate how I'm all black, except for my boots and belt.
Kepa just posted this on Twitter: "Punch Quest was doing fine for awhile, then sank like a stone. Too low to work on updates. Seeing if making it 99 cents does anything." Hopefully it will help!
I doubt it's going to sell much at 99 cents since it has been free for so long. Probably everybody who wants it already has it. It's too bad they didn't price it at 99 cents to start with. It would have still gotten great reviews as there's plenty of value within.
I keep thinking that what's putting off a bunch of users is the fact that a reroll costs so much and has such a low probability of something the user will like. I for one don't want a sandwich on my head even if it has a power up(it's funny but still). So if I reroll, and get a sandwich without a power up. That's kind of a turn off considering how much a reroll costs. Either you have to be really good, have a lot of money or grind a lot (like most of us here). I think what's hurting here is the attention span of the average user as well. The majority want everything sooner than later. They don't want to grind (or pay) 50,000 punchos for a hat that grants them no powers. That's why I'm a staunch promoter of the enchanting option. People get the hat they want, which they enchant/disenchant at ther whim (every powerup available) Enchant costs (100,000 punchos, Disenchant 200,000 or something like that). Or there are limited slots. User can only enchant/once per hat. Disenchanting destroys hat. Taking Skyrim enchanting for example, I spent countless hours crafting and enchanting armor and weapons so I could walk around like a boss. If that would have been a paid feature God knows how much money I would've tossed there. Please consider that option as I think it might really help. I'd like to know your opinion on it even if you disagree, coz I really want you guys to work out this situation. As do most of us here in the forums.
Yeah, we hear this sometimes, it's always wrong, or at least a huge oversimplification. The catch is that we wouldn't have gotten a million downloads at 99 cents. First, that's incredibly insulting to me. The whole system and what we attempted, marred by one small feature of the game? Man, I'm not even going to get into this. We'll add a way to get a 100% roll, I guess. But stuff like this is seriously affecting how we're going to do things in the future.
I hope you don't see my comment as "this is what you've been doing wrong all along and i'm here to fix you guys up!". It's far from that guys. I'm not a dev,or a businessman or much less can see into the future. I'm between a casual and a hardcore gamer and the comments I put are my personal perspective on things. I've played quite a lot of games and know myself well enough to know what grabs my attention and what moves me to spend my money. What I suggest are just things that I think might work. They're not meant to sound self righteous. I comment coz I enjoy this game and want to see it prosper. It saddens me to read articles about a game I enjoy not doing well as I had hoped. Yeah my wording can be a bit off (I'm on my phone) but my intentions are honest. Thanks! And I really really really hope switching to paid helps a ton!
Completely agree... this belongs in my all time top iOS games which includes: Super Crate Box, Tilt to Live, Monsters Ate My Condo and Ski Safari... My Top 5
This is a fantastic title, and I am very sorry to see profitability has been such a challenge. I picked up the game early on and bought the coin doubler when it became available for support. You guys have a fantastic title on your hands, and I hope you do not let a few nay Sayers discourage you. At $0.99 the game is still a bargain, so I hope you will see a steady stream of orders under the new pricing. The only suggestion I would make is that you look at ways to improve visibility of the iap store, and to more clearly promote some of the features like the coin doubler from within the app. I wish you guys all the best, and all the success in the world
Gotta say, I'm not surprised it's going to a paid version. it's an endless runner - we have so many of those on the app store already. I think the mass majority of kiddos have already spent their parents money on Temple Run: Brave.
Kepa, I'm sorry for insulting you. You guys make great games, and this is no different. I was just disappointed because you guys have such an eye for the meta-game, being able to predict how your best players will play your games. That being said, for the meta game here, having a second ability is huge, and i was dissappointed that that is where IAPs make the most sense. My language was innappropriate. I wish you the best, for what its worth.
Hi Rocketcat/MadGarden, I've been lurking on these forums for awhile now and this is the first time that i feel the need to post. I purchased 2 Punchos Packs, the Punchos Doubler and I also donated a buck and I don't regret spending one cent of that. I just wanted to personally say thank you and please don't be discouraged. Just know that you have a new longtime fan from here on out. Tass
Noah, I've never really once felt like PQ was actually an endless runner. Thanks for the support guys, guess we'll see what happens now.
