The problem is that any changes to the game as is will (rightfully) feel the wrath of its players and lose any potential business. At this point any changes to make money need to be for new and additional content only.

I understand I didn't pay a cent for this game, but I have no patience for changes to existing game mechanics to make money. And no one should.

I think ads are a deal breaker. But the game is seriously at least worth a dollar maybe two. Actually as a dev I think it's worth 10 but in reality a dollar sounds like a good sale price.

Thing is, I'm sure the game would've sold well for $1.99, even better for $.99

The fact that they've made it free though, meant I've now sent like $10 their way, since I'm now over 20 hours invested into the game and still playing. I know that there are few like me in that (and it's apparently the case based on what's been said about the sales), but I know I wouldn't have bought any coins if there was the initial $2 purchase price.

Ok, I get it. Took a while, but I finally get. I knew I had to be missing something, and after being able to devote some uninterrupted time, I'm in.

    Not doing ads.

We're thinking about doing a dual currency system. Punchos coins would buy any upgrades/skills we added (more upgrades are coming in the second update). Punchite gems would buy the really fancy optional stuff. Permanent pets (you can also find them in the dungeon and they'll temporarily follow you), a double coin temporary boost, and anything else we add that would have otherwise cost tons of coins.

Gnomey would give you a bunch of gems when you ascend him. There would also be new daily quests that would give gems. You'd just buy ultra prizes, using that. Rerolls would still be coins.

Really should have done dual currency in the first place. To have it work as a coins-only game, we really would have had to quadruple the amount that everything costs. And then the progression would feel crappy, but it has to in a single currency game. Or you just won't make enough money to keep making games.

Consumable IAP doesnt feel right to buy in my eyes but a Coin Doubler IAP does... if you add it, I will buy

i thought previous games from rocketcat were quite successful and if so then well, decision to make the game freemium is something devs decided to do. and suggesting something like adding ads is definitely stupid idea for people who bought iap. increasing current prices is not fair too, maybe some people would not bother to buy iap seeing such increased prices in the first place. new iap stuff is completely ok of course.

well and about the game, it seems like the game has some problems detecting when you press uppercut button if you press punch button too fast or like in the case of dyno when you hold it.

We've had a lot of trouble adding a permanent coin doubler. Mostly because you just kind of run out of stuff to buy before the first ascension, in that case. You get coins too fast. Generally, if you add a coin doubler to your game, you're supposed to do it right after you triple the price of everything. You're also supposed to do this BEFORE you release the game, so no one knows that you tripled the price of everything.

We're probably going to add a pack of exclusive hats. Will cost 3 or 4 bucks to start, may increase the price later. This way, we can see if people will actually pay for non-consumable stuff.

Are you blocking by accident, or is it just not jumping when you want?

in case of the dyno it's hard to jump if you hold punch button cause it's like the game doesn't detect it or hitboxes are small. in case of normal game sometimes uppercut doesn't work, it's not blocking cause i set it to swipes in settings.

    Hi madgarden!

This is in regard to the Idol bug I was having. After the update it seems to have gotten worse haha. Initially it would be a difference of one, now it's a difference between two or three. Idol menu says I have 72 statues, but the stats menu says I have a total of 74.

Also, when you punch an idol off an imp does it count if you knock it off or must I punch it again? Because if I knock it off it doesn't do the usual chirping sound; yet if I punch it again it does. That would be ok. Problem is, sometimes the statue falls behind me so I miss it.

Thanks! Loving the new update by the way.

I adore the game, and I am planning to make some IAPs. My hesitation is that I don't want free punchos. Until I have unlocked everything, earning punchos is a significant motivation to keep playing the game. You should try to think of an IAP that a starting player would be interested in if they don't want to "skip ahead".

Over time I believe my motivating factor is supposed to shift over to completing gnome quests so I can unlock ultra hats. Then I'll need punchos by the boat load and I'll probably pony up some scratch to reroll a few times at least. If my pattern is typical, maybe your sales will go up in a few days as more players reach that point.

It is hard to design an IAP that is helpful, but not really needed for play. How about an IAP to allow four gnome quests at once?

Regarding the gnome quests, I was stuck for a while behind some very tough quests before I figured out I could skip them in the boosts menu. Could you put a "skip" button next to each quest on the quests page?

Same here. Buying punchos is not appealing at all. Coin doubler (or just a percent boost) is much more appealing since I'm still playing to get them. How about a 25% booster or something of that sort if doubling is too much?

What's the secret to knocking torches off? Some times I can do it a lot and other times I can't seem to knock even one off.

The stats screen shows how many idols you've found, while the idol screen shows how many UNIQUE idols you have. Mine differ by about 10.
You need to punch the idol after the imp drops it. I've lost at least a dozen this way.

Speaking of idols, are the pure ones weighted differently than the normal ones? I've now got over 500 idols total, and just under 500 unique ones, but no pure ones. (I realize 500 of 4000+ isn't that much, but still)

They require more than one hit to knock them off. If you have steamburst, your uppercut becomes stronger, or with Power Slam your slam will be stronger, so you can knock them off with just one of those. If you don't have either of those, you will need to get two hits in. (I usually do an uppercut and slam in quick succession to get them down)

You sure you don't work for Rocketcat? ;)

I didn't know they could be repeated. I thought once you found them that was it, you would never encounter them again. That makes it all the more difficult to collect them all, dunnit?

And I figured as much, just wish they'd launch forward, I did just punch them forward after all. Physics. Haha

Thank you sir! Very helpful as always.

I just play this game too much.

I don't know if you can get the same idols more than once, but every idol has a bronze, silver, gold and platinum version. (that means there are something like 4100 x 4 idols total)

I love this game but must be missing something. Where are what is the re-rolling for hats I keep reading about?

That's why I think it's a bug. I have 72 individual idols total. Between bronze, silver, gold and diamond. I have no repeated ones in any category/color. Like for each number, I only have one of its four categories. But my stats say I should have 74.

Unless I'm not understanding something. :0

    Thanks!

The last two upgrades (for 13000 total) get you the ability to "re-roll" an Ultra hat for 50,000 and that gives you a different hat, as well as a 20% chance of it having a free POWER I skill.

That's weird... Has your score at any point been reset on the GC leaderboards?

I'd count my idols.... but yeah. 500+

Edit: Just counted my doubles and I have more than 10. Maybe the counter for "idols found" in the stats includes the ones you've seen but haven't picked up in the game?
