I'm looking forward to this, and so should everyone else. I'm in contact with someone at Dogtown, and while I don't know much, it looks like it's going to be quite awesome.
I am really looking forward to this. If they can produce Project 72 in that short amount of time, I cannot imagine how good the game will be when they have more time.
Soundtrack for Project Unknown Music has always been a critical element to the gaming experience. As we have reached a time where the gaming device capacity allows for complex sound playback and manipulation, we are pushing the creative limits to the max. Project Uknown is not about putting a little loop or track together, its about creating the full experience and emotion. We are proud to announce that Project Unknown will be a full soundtrack. Well, thats all gravy, but whos behind it? Hes been a composer for over 15 years and has released numerous tracks for multiple labels. Bizan, the sound track composer for Project Unknown is also a good old friend of mine. Last time I saw him was 10 years ago when we used to play networked Duke Nukem 3D at the Internet cafes in Stockholm (I kicked his ass . Although his schedule is crazy, we convinced him to participate in an interview [Rasmus] Tell me a little bit about your music background and career? [Bizan] My music background comes from me one day deciding that I wanted to do the same type of music I heard in clubs and on TV. I wanted to bring people the same emotions that I felt when listening to music. From day one, everything was experimental. Even though I did play trombone, trumpet, violin and other instruments when I was a young kid, I never had any formal education when it comes to music production. Everything was learned on my own, through trial and error and of course with the help of friends and other artists. My career has pretty much followed the same path. In the 90´s everyone was releasing their music on Vinyl. A path I never left. Artists also used different names for different projects something I always enjoyed doing. Every release for the dance floor has been under a different name, and all on Vinyl. Underground was the start of my career and I still pay tribute to the dance floor in every way I can. The last years I have been spending more time working on projects like scoring for documentaries, musical bits and pieces for commercial ads etc. Since I make so many different types of music from techno, to classical, etc it feels good to be able to work with different projects not just doing music for the clubs. [Rasmus] You produce music of many different types and genres. Do you have a signature / favorite type, or genre that you see yourself always going back to? [Bizan] I honestly enjoy almost every type of music but it has to be quality. My wide taste in music is reflected in how and what I produce. I would get bored doing the same thing over and over. But if there is one thing that I always find myself going back to it would be the very same thing that made me start producing music in the first place: techno and electronica. [Rasmus] Is this your first video game project? [Bizan] Yes. This is my very first video game project. And Im excited like crazy! [Rasmus] Tell us a little bit about the music for Project Unknown. What can we expect? [Bizan] I think you can expect The unexpected. [Bizan] I would say that the music will be very mixed. Soft vs hard. Electronic vs classic. Fast vs slow. I want to bring you something you dont expect, wrapped in a package that will explode when you open it up. [Rasmus] Cant wait to hear it What inspired you when you composed the soundtrack for Project Unknown? [Bizan] Music to me is all about emotions. I went through the story of Project Unknown and just let myself feel every aspect of the game. The characters, the story itself and even imagining things that the storyline did not tell me. My imagination is the fuel for my inspiration. Project Unknown is such a brilliant piece of work, so it wasnt a hard thing to do. I basically took bits and pieces from Project Unknown, and let my imagination and inspiration do the rest. [Rasmus] Thank you! Can you talk a little bit about the process from start to finish? [Bizan] Each song starts out with me getting a sense of the feeling or atmosphere that I want to convey. From there I start with the main element of the song. If its a song with a lot of classical elements in it, I will most likely start with the strings, or percussion. If it is something more electronica, I will begin the process with different synthesizers. The basic building blocks for each song are always different. The different emotions I get when composing makes me approach each song in a different way. But I always start out with the core (whatever that might be) and then bring out all the elements around it. Once everything is in place, and all the recording is done - the arrangement gets finished and finally the mastering of each song needs to be taken care off. [Rasmus] Did you face any challenges, technical or creative, during the process? [Bizan] I believe almost every high quality project brings out challenges for everyone involved. For me, not so much technical but in some songs creative. I have overcome almost every challenge I met so far in Project Unknown, thanks to the amazing storyline. The inspiration and energy from it has really been the major force behind every song. [Rasmus] Whats your favorite track so far, and why? [Bizan] It´s hard to choose one single track. But right now, in this very moment War Is Coming. I love the wicked beat on it and the way it makes me feel like a bad ass warrior when listening to it.
