Game made my eyes hurt, graphics are blurry and the towers are exact knock-offs of Fieldrunners...not that it hasn't been cloned over and over so not a biggie I suppose. If the next update includes a fix on fuzzy graphics it's right up there in it's genre.
Another lesson in impulse shopping, ge looks great, I bite...into a huge turd. Don't be a fool like me, it's a lite version game, no options, it sucks! Great graphics gone to waste. Awful.
Go ahead and waste your money and see for yourself. I didn't have time to write a full review for y'all sorry was trying to save some of your money. Let me list more of my gripes. 1. No options as I mentioned. Seriously for 4 bucks you'd figure you'd at least have a name imput screen don't ya think? This comes down to why I call it a lite version game disguised with a killer look. 2. The touch controls as mentioned by others is very "un-natural" feeling. This causes it to get pretty old pretty darn quick. Also as mentioned it blocks where you are going by forcing your hand to take up the half of screen your driving into. Imagine driving your Hyundai with your windshield painted black. 3. Small complaint but the music is terrible and I'm finding the music experience, especially in the 4 buck realm of games on my phone to be outstanding for the most part. 4. It is lite on content regardless of how many races because there is only truely 3 tracks done at different configurations. 5. Besides paint job, no car customization. Even RC Pro Am had upgrades for vehicles over 20 years ago. ( love for that game is what made me try this one.) At this price point I expect the quality I got out of Sailboat Pro Championship, which as an overhead racer blows this game out of the arena. Believe it's a buck cheaper as well. There again you do have a challange learning to get the controls, but it's more a learning curve thing as opposed to it being a deal breaker. Just my opinions though. Shall I go on? Or do we all want to whine a little more and stick up for a dev team like it's your own blood? Doodle Kart at a buck gives you more enjoyment long term then you'll get after the one minute you'll be enthralled by the great graphics in this turd. This game is truely updates away from being a game worthy if it's price tag...I took the sacrafice and tried to save ya from stealing mommys visa out of her purse to buy yourself a new video game. Go on and get bent over the barrel as well.
Figures....If it was a great game it'd be cheaper, so they could let word of mouth build up our appitites for it and then Jack the price up. Where Its priced at to start, leads me to think "it's a let's make our nut back and screw everyone game." We should all start calling our congressmen, for as big as the gaming industry has become, the rights of the consumers compared to other industries is equal to civil rights in China.
Apple directed me to contact the developer for this game before they could initiate the refund process...problem is the developer is in Denmark and Im too haste for an email response...So I called them. The gentleman on the other line was very gracious and concerned even though I was heated. I explained the issues to which he said he had none on the devices he tested on, which were a regular iphone and a 2nd gen. Ipod touch. Im running a 32gb 3gs. Anyway, back to waring with iphone now that Ive spent more than 5 bucks on an international call. Has anybody else dished the 5 bucks for this game and is experiencing issues? (Freezing and bit rate issues that make game unplayable?) not at any particular point, its noticeable even in game menus. Feedback would be awesome!
Horrible Must be developers commenting on their own game because this one is flawed at best. After about 5 minutes of uneventful and rather vanilla gameplay here is my first thoughts and gripes. 1. Controls are beyond your control, lol. Awful to the point of nonsense. 2. Try hooked on phonics. The grammer and use of English makes me look like a Harvard graduate which is pretty hard I can admit to make a dummy like me appear. 3. When your assistant cuts into gameplay, thus freezing your chracter, enemies can attack you still and with only one life provided, dying while the idiot spends multiple seconds to spit out a small meaningless message is beyond irritating. On the second level this occurs and im stuck at this point.
Petty would be ripping a game if it was free, this game like every other game on my device I have paid money for. And for 2 bucks there are enough quality games on the app store that this game doesnt stand up to. And yes, on my device the game upon finding the first piece of "data" in the second level, after grinding thru the horribly long and boring first level as you yourself stated, my chracter cannot move while the AI is talking, meanwhile I have a spaceworm up my shiz killing me before she is done talking. Cannot move forward past this point. The controls dont take time getting used to, Im all about gameplay, how a game feels, and the controls on this are just flat bad. Without proper controls you dont have a game. Thats not petty, thats an honest opinion and one that im sure a good amount of other poor saps who pay for the game will share.
I paid the cash for the full before checking out the lite version due to the fact I'm a whore for space shooters. Love it except I too have no sound during gameplay. Very sad that I paid this kinda money for an unfinished product. Other then that game has potential but it's the little things like this that drive me insane. Deleted and redownloading though I doubt that to be the issue. Edit: after redownloading just as I thought, no sound... Amazed by this kinda crap seriously. Just a thought, but every game I've ever downloaded that I've had issues with are produced by European developers.. Why is this?
What's the number of posts that qualify me for expert status? My posts aside, I have purchased over 250 games on this device and that's a big enough sampling to know what's good and not. I'm blessed that for my job I get to in a way sit online and play video games and give my opinion about anything under the sun video games or whatever. But back to the point. Even if it's a game I'm not fond of whether it be the genre or whatever, I can put that aside and still give credit where it's due and give hell for wasting my time, especially when wasting of my time also costs me money. I'm no expert, but now that I know a certain number of posts on this website awards me this designation I'm well on my way. A whole 24 posts and Ive seen enough on here that when I see someone blowing up a cruddy game like it's the next Halo there is usually funny business involved. I can also say what I want as long as my opinion doesn't go over the line, even if that's an opinion of someone elses opinion =p. Don't take it so personnal. I can think of a lot more to be upset about then being told my opinion sucks. If it's not fake rave reviews or promo codes given away to secure good reviews for subpar games, I'm gonna make it a point that when I pay money for something that I expect a finished product. When it's not, I'm going to encourage others not to make the same mistake. I am new, so answer this for me because I have a hard time understanding the motivation behind this practice. Why do people if not the developers or on behalf of developers go thru the process of copying the app store description, embed video files and screenshots when this information is readily available 100 other places online?*That number goes even higher for those of us who enjoy gaming on our iDevices that we know the places to find this information on our own. Repetive bombardment of vague info on product and hype statements is called advertising to me. By the way don't be ashamed of posting on this site, obvious your having some issues to be that sensitive over my " must be the game developers comment" that you have to mention you have a family and a job. I'm impressed! But what that has to do with our opinion of a 2 dollar game is beyond my comprehension but I think you can be cool man and still post on her no matter what anybody says. By the way....if this game is good, why would you be so put off by a comment stating yours must be of the developers. We'll see a year down the road when there are plenty of user reviews on the app store what the rest of the saps like me that pay for this game think. I gurantee you if this game remains the same, most will have a viewpoint closer to mine than yours. P.S. You said that you Wsh you could be a game developer. Well no matter how old or young or wherever you may live it's never too late to go to your local adult school. Take a computer programing course, drop out after 3 weeks and you yourself couild be working on Data Miner part 2. I'm being called petty and your being called a game devloper wah wah for both of us. Now for the grammer issue and pettiness to the other. Look it's easy, on here, typing on our phones grammer and deep editing are unexpected. But if I go to a movie I expect to understand what they are saying on the screen, if I can't, then I expect subtitles. When I buy a book I expect it to be perfect grammer. When a buy a song off iTunes I expect it to be audible. Why video games shouldn't fall under the same rule of thumb is again, beyond me. We've all said the controls at least have issues, we've all admitted that the grammer and understanding of English isn't the games strong suit....And one of you also agreed that the first level is long and boring. Well how many of these faults are needed to add up to this not being a product worthy of money, couple bucks or not? I'm all for a hobbyist putting their game on the app store and sharing their creation for free, but to charge money for it when it's the work of an amatuer is wrong, hell I'd be cool if it was only a buck. When it breaks that buck thresshold I dunno, It irks me that I just downloaded an unpolished product. I know people are proud and think their creation is the best over. But those developers all need a collective slap in the face. You wanna put your unedited, buggy, and unfinished game on the app store go on and do so, just don't expect money for it. Your cheating yourself if you expect any less. We've all seen and played games on here for the same price, cheaper, and free that this game fails to compete with.
ugh what a mangled mess of a game this is, what are all you smokin?? way too many flaws to be considered by anyone for purchase, well except a dumbass like me for 2 bucks. Game should have remained free until at least the major issues are worked out in an update.
Professor Natron - The prologue Hey there! I spend way too much money in the app store every month. Out of the many games I purchase a few (more so than acceptable) are so unfinished or bugged that they are practically unplayable or not ready for market. Is there a list someone compiles of such apps if not on this site then elsewhere on the web? It's extremely unfair and a bummer for a paying customer to recieve useless software. Updates should be intended for "minor bug fixes" and content. A developer should not place an unfinished game or fatally flawed game for sale, take your money, and expect you to wait for an update that makes the game work. My experience with iTunes customer service?? What service, they don't respond to emails (in my case) and don't provide telephone customer servce. Apple runs their iTunes store like a swap meet vendor which is unlike any other aspect of their company. If not a list exists , I'm starting one. You can post here if you have experienced an issue with a game that's beyond a minor bug and makes you believe that the game is unplayable and needs immediate attention by the developer. This is not to rip on games we may just not like, but actual technical issues. Hopefuly developers will check this list and if they find their software on it they may respond to inform their customers what they plan on doing to remedy the issues related to their game. To the games that have no developer response, we know those developers we should stay away from in future game releases. Post your troubled game, the specific Idevice you game on, and the price you paid for the game. (Not interested in free games unless it ruined your phone to the point of needing a full restore). Not quite sure how I'll work this but I think this will be the post thread that I'll monitor and confirm, and start a seperate thread which will be easy to scan through listing the big time offenders. New to the world of posting so if this does already exist let me know, otherwise I'm taking the lead. I'm passionate about my money and getting ripped off is horrible. I'm sure most of you feel the same even if it's just a buck it's still a helpless feeling. So if not already somewhere, let's make Apple and these games accountable! If you have any ideas or thoughts on how to compile the list please private message me your ideas. This isn't for me it's for us, so no idea is worthless. We got to have each others backs! Thanks!
DoodleCraft 100vs.100 (Current Edition) iPhone 3GS, $1.99 I'll get it started haha. This game I have downloaded and delted a dozen times to no fix of issues. Game will freeze and exit to homescreen within minutes of starting gameplay, besides the fact it's A.I. appears flawed. Turning volume completely down on phone also does not silence the sound effetcs. Phone must be switched to vibrate only to fully mute audio. Online and app store reviews show many others experience the same issues. Contacted developer by email a week ago and have not recieved a response.
I disagree completely, even though apps are cheap from 1 to 10 bucks on average, iTunes and it's app store is a signifgant slice of the pie in Apple's total revenue. The reason the iPod, iPhone, and now the iPad was brought to market is simple. It's another device reaching out to consumers on which they can sell apps and music through. I'm willing to bet if not already true, the grand scheme of their revenue plans is that the ipad's price to consumers is a break even for Apple, doing so they may have more customers with access to the iTunes and app store which they have complete control over. The real money just like in cell phones is not in the sale of hardware these days, it's in the services required to keep your device running and or enhance the user experience. Ask all the computer companies that have tanked selling just hardware no matter how sleek or state of the art how much money there is in it? They will all respond from the grave with ZERO. The iTunes store is not just a slice, it's the bread and butter of Apple's revenue and why their stock is where it's at. It's why they are more than helpful in tech support with your hardware because without it, you have no need for or access to the real money maker for the company. It's why at least at first when you purchased an iPhone you had to go on Itunes to activate the phone. AT&T almost lost their deal with Apple initially before it was announced because of their desire the phone be activated in store where knowledgable staff knew what they were doing and could assist the customer. This was of no concern to Apple who instead it was more important for the customer to immediatly expose themselves to their marketplace They figured ATT is getting to sell our phones to sell their service immediatly, we want our revenue source iTunes up and in their face just as quickly. Only after the first go round having signifigant issues with at home iTunes activation was Apple silenced in their demands with the second generation 3G. Might sound silly to the average reader on this site as being so is a indication your technically literate, but think about if Mom who can't even work the remote on the tv was to figure it out on their own? All that said, and like you said about the average price and their approval process before games go to market. It's unacceptable to not provide service for us. I spend about $150 a month on iTunes app store and I'm sure many spend way less, as I'm also sure there are many that spend way more. To not take care of me is not holding sight of the bigger picture on their part. If out of arrogance they feel the dollar bills that pile in one at a time Isnt what keeps them sucessful they are kidding only a few, because trust me they know those dollars add up. They're very aware of how they are set up to make money. However in not servicing there customers even 1 to 10 bucks a time they do appear aloof and arrogant. It's this same arrogance which caused Apple to be an afterthought 20 years ago after trailblazing in a marketplace. It's very lucky and rare for a company to have a second chance after being on life support: I love their products and fear they are making the same mistake twice. Another company sooner or later will come along, most likely with inferior hardware, but will suceed in taking Apples dominant market share just as before, by providing the customer with service and not with arrogance. As great as their computers are, don't think for a minute they make a lick of cash on them or any hardware they sell your dollar purchases is what they go to sleep on when they go to bed at night. I know what you mean about posting on the specific game thread and your probably right about that. I want to figure out how to make Apple feel obligated to have a role in this as well since they are the sales agent who approves these apps for their marketplace. For them not to act as if a game or app they sell they are not resposible for is wrong no matter the price. It's not the developer that charges my credit card daily, it's Apple. The customer service for iTunes needs serious adjustment and expansion before it crumbles under it's own weight and is a oversight on their part big time. I have serious doubts or questions about ther "review" process because I've made many purchases that any person with half a brain in their head would know it's problematic, flawed software, or in no way works as intended. I know there are a trillion apps out there, but don't create the monster if you don't plan on monitoring his health.
I respect everyones thoughts on this and if I insult I apologise. I'm very passionate about companies who do do not service their customers in a way that I feel benefits the customer while protecting the company. I know it's a delicate balance to find, I just find Apple's attempt at this balance to be non existant for it's iTunes store. I'm thinking maybe a more appropriate discussion would be how to get Apple to realize iTunes needs a full functioning customer service department. We give these people information such as our credit cards and debit cards which are often linked to our checking accounts, to trust them with the key to what most of us consider our life line, our banking accounts and not get a live person on the phone is wrong I feel. Does anyone else feel the same? Or am I really expecting too much? Gotta shut it down for a bit, phones about to die and I spent all the juice typing and not gaming! =( enough ranting for now! Haha
Yo Developer who doesn't respond to emails Developer of this game: I see you've been busy packaging all your crap games into one title for 99 cents. Any chance your gonna make Doodlecraft which Inpaid 2 bucks for playable with an update?? This games more glitchy then a crack head a day into withdrawls. Rip off artist....
Not only should this game be free, Apple should actually credit you .99 cents for downloading and wasting your time.
All gone and not one reply, why do I think most of the people who horde promo codes have never paid once for a single app??
Oh and maybe I'm just weird, but I couldnt watch the movie "The Watchmen" because I felt uncomfortable looking at a dude with a atomic blue super wee-wee, and the main guy in this game, though not glowing, had one hell of a birth defect being that his wang is where his nose is supposed to be and I'm assuming his nose is down there sniffing his ace. That's one switch that's a real stinker.
