I agree best to wait and see Also agree with you virtual I would buy again if need be but first I want to hear from them either way if nothing else I just want delete it and enjoy what it is
You'll hear from them through Touch Arcade and Rob's piece of news for sure. Max confirmed through his Twitter that they were meeting to talk about the events and prepare an article to clear everything out. What I'm doing is, while I wait for the final version, play a bit, try new universe seeds to see if I find something cool, etc. I still have to find a way of stealing the spaceships to the police when they come to help the people I'm attacking obviously, I also backed up the IPA downloading through iTunes. Too many lost-forever IPA's in my App Store life to lose this one too.
It was removed from the U.S App Store and I seen gameplay on YouTube that was uploaded 2 days ago and it looked like it ran smooth. I was just about to buy it so now what?
In very few words, the version released shouldn't have been released. It ran smooth, but was incomplete. Therefore, you can only wait.
I have a huge amount of sympathy for the dev of this game. Five years is a massive investment of time and effort and to have the game released early by design or, more likely in my opinion, in error before it is ready is really unfortunate. Having just completed a two-year project I know there can be moments when the "to-do list" can seem overwhelming and on a game as ambitious as Prevail that feeling must only be magnified. Sometimes the only thing that keeps you going is the thought of finally releasing the finished, feature-complete and (hopefully) bug free game into the world. I hope the dev is able to refocus on the project and get it back on track. It's clear the game has huge potential and it would be tragic if it didn't finally see light of day, fully formed and as its creator intended. Suminell.
Sorry for having an awful and ambiguous username, 2010 me didn't really anticipate writing for TouchArcade! But yeah, the story with a brief description of what went down with the Prevail release should be coming out soon (a more in-depth article may come out in the future once I've spoken to Josh) - sorry for the wait. I did go and speak to Max on Tuesday, and hopefully he will be able to come to the forums and answer any questions you may have that aren't answered by the article. Bottom line really is anyone who may have bought the game early should be able to get a refund through Apple, so in that regard things should be okay. Thanks to everyone for being understanding and respectful after my last post, both myself and Max greatly appreciate the actions of the community after this sudden release, and it's yet another example of how the TouchArcade community really is one of a kind, and I love you all dearly!
Thanks for keeping us informed. Bottom line for me is that although I would have preferred everything had come out normally, I was able to play an unfinished version of Prevail and I was very happy to do so. No refund request from me. In fact, I got Plunderland for free when JTS put it for free to try and get more presence in the App Store, so I'll consider the $5 as a support towards getting Prevail finished (whenever that happens). I hope so. In any case, I'm pretty sure Rob's article will shed some light on what to expect from now onwards.
