I guess my point would be you should never set a definitive release date, unless the game has already been approved by Apple. But, if it has been approved by Apple, then people will know that you could release it immidiately, and yet have chosen willingly to delay the release. Either choice has the potential to anger people who are eagerly awaiting the game's release. So just don't set a hard release date. Like with Xenome. They set the release date for the 8th. They set this date like 10 days in advance of the release. If I'm to assume that the game has been approved by Apple, then knowing that the devs are holding that game back for 10 days just because they can, it kinda ticks me off. Here, the game hasn't been approved. They set this release date pretty well in advance; long before they actually submitted it to Apple. That was a dumb marketing decision.
Yeah, whenever I hear about a release date like the 1st, 15th, or 30th, I more often than not see it as a rough estimation. Like in this case the idea is shoot for submitting on the 1st and odds are it will make it live by the 9th (date of the movie). Not that it doesn't have to coincide exactly with the movie release date, but as close to possible works well to help cross promote the game/movie.
