Hit the Deck Baseball (before and after) Here are several before and after pictures from my game "Hit the Deck Baseball" for the iPad. Started the project October 2010 and finished February 2011. I played this type of pinball when I was a younger, it wasn't available on an IOS device or PC, so that's why I created "Hit the Deck Baseball" Here are the pics:
Payload Before and After Awesome thread, amazing to see how some of these games started. Our truck driving game, Payload, started out as Quarry Challenge, catching falling debris in a rock quarry. You can see the art design changed quite a bit from prototype to final. The idea came from playing old LCD games when I was kid. The prototype did not have real physics, performance was horrid, but it showed off the concept. The quarry level is still in there as the first level, but there are others. Payload is in a need of an update, after working on the Learning Cocos2D book, I'm back on it for some more levels and trucks. You can see more about Payload at our company Prop.gr And of course in the AppStore. Rod
That last picture really feels like our old beloved Game 'n Watch, Rod, the intention is very well rendered, congratulations (which is a performance, knowing that game n watch didn't have colors, and had poor graphics).
Bull Stampede Pro After seeing this great thread I knew it was time for me to sign up to the forums, so here I am! My story: I created Bull Stampede while I was still at university studying programming. I mainly just wanted to test the process of getting an App approved by Apple and didn't have any particular expectations about the game itself. As such, I did the graphics myself, and well... I'm no artist Oh, and the bulls you see in these screenshots are actually a little better than the first version, because an artist friend threw me a bone and did them up a bit. Old title: Old gameplay: Old "Macho Time" (a mode where the gameplay changes from dodging bulls to knocking them out) After the game was out there, I actually got some surprisingly good feedback about the game/gameplay itself. People just didn't like the graphics, understandably! When my degree finished at the end of last year (and after taking some time off) I decided the first game I should make for real would be an overhaul of Bull Stampede, called Bull Stampede Pro. I hired some real artists to do the graphics for me and refined the gameplay further. Here's the results: New title: Tutorial, didn't exist before: New gameplay shots: New Macho Time: The game has full retina graphics and really slick, smooth character animations. I thought this thread would be the right place to show off how far it's come I'm due to submit the binaries (there's a Lite version that is ad-supported too) in a couple of days, so hopefully you'll hear more from me soon! Hence why I scrapped the graphical style lol, it was never going to look that way finished regardless, at that point in development, graphics did not matter.

The artist and I went through many iterations on my game FlickEm. It started with just me making simple vector shapes and some quick and dirty PS stuff. Then went to final product with illustrator. programmer art, and onscreen debug FTW! version 1.0 at standard size with old cue locations version 1.05 with Retina support, new cue locations, new modifier UI, and custom next Version 1.1 with new Passbar and moved pause button. Check out FlickEm - http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/flickem/id372527263?mt=8

Air Supply - Early shots Hey all, I did a little digging, and found some early shots from Air Supply - 1 bit Run. The game's getting some love here on the TA forums, which is lovely of course, and I thought you guys might want to see the before/after pics! Here's a look at the early HUD, as well as the original UFO I made and my rather plain platform (note - I am not an artist!). First 'Shields' iteration: And the first version of Spaceman Sam: This is what the game looks like now: Cheers! QS

Great Post! My original idea was to play it in a diagonally way using hexagon grid but found it too technical to develop for my first game so I shifted it to something a bit like a chess board, maybe one day i will go back and do a hexagon board version.
