Is it just me that watched the TA Plays vid and had their interest just plummet? Idk the game world doesn't look too appealing and the dungeon area they were in as well as the animations looked terrible. The art style is not be appealing either. Idk it's just my opinion but I'm not really looking forward to this as much. The free to play mechanics don't look very good and the whole game just looks unpolished. As Eli and Brad mentioned, this just doesn't look like a game I really want to invest my time in. You might as well just play the legit Pokemon on the DS or something if you want the true experience. For now, Pokemon inspired games don't look good at all
I don't know what was said in the video (I'll be watching it right after I type this) but for what it's worth, the beta for this has been amazing and I really, really enjoyed this.
"Sort of". There IS a story, but it takes the back seat somewhat, as you're unleashed upon the world. To be honest, until the TA Plays video mentioned it, I haven't really paid attention to the fact that the story is skippable - the game (for me) just carried on its own steam without needing motivation. Thinking back on it now - my reasoning was "I need to go there? Sweet, get more battles to fight. Why am I going there? Who cares, more death and destruction."
Do you rate it? This went from an instabuy, (and after watching the TA video) to a "hmm.. wait for price drop", (and after reading your comment) to a "wait for impressions". That being said, I appreciate the developers really getting involved with the forums, so depending on the price of the app I might just take the plunge for their hard work and effort. We will see.
From what I was told, it will be $.99 on release. Whether it will go up from there, I don't know. But despite what the TA video has said, I really, really enjoyed what's on offer here. It may not be for everyone's taste, I'll admit, but for me it really hit the spot. One thing I do have to mention though (again, based off the TA Plays video) is that I did not go into this expecting anything resembling Pokemon. With that in mind, I really enjoyed what I got - but if you're expecting Pokemon-quality gameplay here... you won't find it. Not here, not anywhere on iOS.
For those of you on the fence, I will be back to post the first detailed review of the game from iFans.com, scheduled for this weekend (we saw it already, they gave the game a 5/5). Or you could try it out right now! WPMKH3N6LM9K T936PAXMXXLJ (they expire today). The release date is August 30th, and its final. We originally planned to release tomorrow, but an opportunity came up that we needed to jump on. Thanks Echo, release price is 99cents for a limited time, then we switch to 2.99, which is our base price.
Dragon Island I got a promo code yesterday, and I need to admit that this game is great. The graphics and the monsters are well designed. The fighting system is really unique. Also, hunting for treasures in the dungeons is fun to do. The game is not out yet, but when it is, definetly check it out, highly recommended!
lucky you. lol I'm so desperate to play the game I even offered to pay for a promo code on the official FB page.
Thank you! @kildar and Xexist: wait will be over next thursday. thanks for the optimism, it means a lot!
Why does it somehow remind me of Lufia. Anyway, they really are pushing the whole "like pokemon" idea too much. its not like pokemon at all
