Thanks! It's comments like yours that make this process worthwhile! We're actually a very small team, so when you say "artists" you mean Filip (and he appreciates it)
Wow really? 1 guy doing all of the art? Astounding doesn't even begin to describe ... Does Filip handle the animation and such as well? I would love to check out a personal art site if he has one. I am curious to know how many people are actually in your team, and how do you guys find working together? Personally I find working with 1 other person a blast. Able to bounce ideas off of each other straight away, and receive honest critique can be extremely useful. Cheers!
Hey Geta-Ve. Nah, I was only involved on the art side (texturing, modeling etc.). Zunaid did all the AWESOME animation. Evan also used his mystical powers of programming to animate enemies like the slimes and stuff with MATHS! We have also had other great people help from time to time on PRPG, but the core team, and the vast majority of the work, has been 3. Cheers
These guys are awesome - a super talented crew! When this game finally makes it out, you guys will love it.
Magic Ring And Advanced UI Here's something I'm quite proud of... While the Battle Mage had been quite fun to play from the beginning, since she had four very different spells and lots of other modifiers, her playstyle was quite simplistic. So I added a Magic Ring ability. Not only is it rather pretty, but it can be laid down to either be a trap for on-coming hoards, or to protect the mage and charge her mana. As such it turned out to be quite a versatile ability. Also, another thing we haven't shown yet, the player can choose an "advanced" interface mode which makes the bars much smaller and the V-Pads appear underneath the player's fingers only when he/she is actually touching. Here's an image of the "advanced" controls (and a big poison bomb explosion):
This Game looks Like an more Polished Solomons Boneyard/Keep... i hope the Gameplay is very Different. More Rpg then Dualstick Shooter.
I really like the ring effects. Also I like the use of lighting as well. Another game to look forward to.
We got to the point, a couple months back, where we realized that, although we had a pretty good dual-stick shooter, we weren't delivering on the "RPG" part of Pocket RPG. (This is the biggest reason for the delay of the game's release.) So we've been working really hard on trying to make it feel more RPG without losing the Rogue-like Dual-Stick gameplay. We're going to show a video with commentary this weekend that describes how it plays... It is quite a unique combination of gameplay elements (I think at least) and I hope that lots of people here are pleasantly surprised.
Can you FLING it? Does it work well with the FLING nubs? I am using these in Order&Chaos and loving it/them! Since your game it a dual stick I suppose it would be a nice assesory to have....no? I am glad you guys are taking the time to make a good rogue like....I just wish you would not have announced it so long ago as it has been hard to keep the interest and momentum up.
As promised Filip and I put a little video together. It is not a promotional video, it's a developer diary. We have shown a lot of screen shots and brief clips of the game, so this is a slightly longer continuous clip of the game being played with me talking over it describing it. Also, this video has been captured from a Windows build of the game, as such there are a few graphical anomalies in the inventory screen (that are not there in the iPad build). And, while it has been a very long day for me, the droning voice is not due to my tiredness, that is just the way I talk. I'm from Cape Town, it's kind of a surfer city. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel We're going to make a couple more of these, just to explain how the game works and show off the bits that we really like. We also plan to do a nice big exciting video and we're hoping Josh can do a hands on video as the game comes out. The gameplay/dual-stick sections should work wonderfully with Flings. I haven't used Flings myself, but I'm guessing that Flings would be really sweet with our game. (the video above should give you a good idea).
Very nice! Nice job guys, keep it up, this is looking great, makes me wanna be a game designer now ^_^
Thanks Geta! Aah, the rich rich life would be nice, I could stop dressing like a hobo. ...Seriously. Well, it's too soon to tell how it'll do, but I'm really excited that we should be testing next week!
