I am looking to buy a gaming laptop at a maximum price of $2200, I saw the dell Alienware m11x and the processor is really low. I also had a look at the M15x and after customizing it to be super gaming latop the price was almost $3400. Does any one know what is best to be done? I need suggestion please. I need the computer to have the latest intel. i7. thanks

Why a laptop? You can build a really incredible desktop with that kind of budget, but you'd end up getting a pretty poor gaming laptop unless you're willing to drop, at the very least, three grand, more likely closer to five.

My suggestion would be to build a nice desktop for $1500 or so, and then drop the rest into a cheap laptop for mobility purposes.

Thanks for the advice, I travel a lot for work and need some kind of gaming fun. I would have gone for the Alienware M11x but the processor is just not reasonable at all. I have a desktop for gaming but cant take it while traveling. Kdaddy has the M15x which cost almost $4000 but i think its very expensive for gaming. I will appreciate more suggestion please. Thanks

My advice would be to buy an average laptop and get into older games. Mine couldn't be considered a "gaming" laptop by any standards, but I can play anything up to and including the likes of Half Life 2 with no problems at all. It cost me £1100 (approx $1700) over 5 years ago.

If you're looking for the fastest laptops on the market with best video card you may want to take a look at the Asus G73 series laptops. There are a few different models in the line with the i7 processor. Prices range from $1400-1700. I think as far as speed this line is the fastest out today for the price.

I have a cheap Asus laptop which only cost about £400 (6600). I can play games such as Half Life 2 perfectly smoothly (the graphics are still pretty decent even though it's quite an old game). I also enjoy Hitman: Blood Money and GTA: San Andreas. Unless you've got plenty of money to spend, I don't see much point in buying a super powerful, expensive gaming laptop when you can still play great games for a fraction of the cost.

Thanks everyone for your useful help. I really appreciate it. I just found a very cheap Laptop that can compare with the dell alienware M15x and it also has the newest set of intel. I am going for it. it is just $1145 or so. its called the Lenovo IdeaPad Y550p - 324164U. I read some review about the computer and they were all great. Thanks again for being helpful.

Are the latest laptops (from brands like HP, Toshiba, etc) able to run the latest games (2009-2010 games, in 3D of course) smoothly, without any customization?
From my knowledge laptops can only run games a few years behind, for example my laptop (not a good one) which came out in 2007 can only run games that came out in 2003-2004 max.

    Great new laptop

I just got a new laptop delivered last week. It's large, but incredible. It's an ASUS A1 17 inch w blu-ray DVD player, 8GB RAM, 1 GB video card, 1TB hard hard drive, optical mouse and backpack (which I don't use).. check it out on the ASUS website... I got it through agearnotebook.com (no I don't work for them!). It was approx. $1600.00 total.
