No problem Royce, water under the bridge . Good point, but the question is... are Devs that confident or egotistical that their game will skyrocket to No. 1 in a proven and crowded genre? This befuddles me at some point, when will good business practice sink in?
Maybe everything is just random; but I am beginning to suspect that when a developer says there will be no sale for a while it's really secret code talk indicating a sale is imminent. Seeing a 12 level tower defense game with an asking price of $3.99 (an IAP totaling over $10), it's hard to believe an early flash sale was not part of the inital marketing strategy since that price does not reflect the market value for most iOS apps (and $3.99 is not on par with tower defense releases, which are typically lower tier casual games). I bought Pirate Legends TD [at $0.99]; just so I could vengefully delete if from my iPod in an act of solidarity with early adopters (aka suckers who didn't see this coming).
I have to say that I'm a tad suspicious on this one as well. It's one thing when a $.99 app doesn't sell well and has to go free to generate some interest or for a $1.99 app to drop to $.99 for the same reason. But a $3.99 game full of IAPs dropping three bucks? Hmm...either the dev didn't do his research before hand or this was the plan all along. And I don't even have a reason to be spiteful since I didn't get the game.
Man, I was following the Pirate Legends TD upcoming thread, and the Dev did say no sale soon. I bought this game like the first hour of its release. Geez, talk about losing respect. Anyway, the game was at 65 on the iPad rank last time I checked, that was not that bad. Going to sale in less than a week, that is BAD!
Gameloft's latest iteration of the Asphalt series . This app is 333mb installed whilst Asphalt 8 will be likely between 1 & 2gb though
I bought it and enjoyed it, but I'm going to do what you're doing. Until the dev explains/and or gives Early adaptors something in return (nether of which seem likely, as the dev hasn't surfaced since the sale), this game goes to my never ending purchases list.
Had that not been said, this might not have been as much or a concern. But comments like that and then a sale with no other comment is a major bummer for early adopters. When the Dev/representative for the Dev makes a comment like that and this happens just over a week after, that's problematic. No one should be making promises that they can't keep, it's as simple as that.
To be fair, they said no sales "planned". It may be that plans changed when sales weren't up to expectations. Maybe not, but I'm not going to get into conspiracy theories. It's definitely a PR screwup, and they should at least have explained themselves. As I said earlier, I expect this dev must be new to iOS to even make a statement like that.
I got KR,KRF decorating my screen. Can't be bother to download PVZ2, since no time anyway. But yes, at this price, I will add this to my library.
Can someone explain the three IAP: Jet Set Jane McQueen, Batty Baron Von Sticky Toffee and Babikov Defcon Bombdropov?
td again agree looks worth a $1, but im 100% done with TD games too...until something unique comes along.
Just reading the forums and saw the name of the game on the thread below this which made me chuckle. I know this is how some early adopters feel, but I've been buying iOS games for too long to feel bitter anymore. If you buy an app at launch...you are going to pay over the inevitable sale price. I don't think devs ever have a sale without good reason but the timing of this one is not great. I think an appearance by the dev on the forums would be welcomed by many...but I won't hold my breath.
I don't mind IAPs, but I read a review somewhere that said there were paywalls. IOW, you need to spend real money to access other levels. This is the reason I haven't bought this, even at the lowered price point.
