The Pinball Arcade - The Making Of (video by IGN) http://au.ign.com/videos/2011/12/23/pinball-arcade-the-making-of-video Wow these developers and programmers and staff members and graphic designers and sound engineers deserve respect for their attention to details!
That is really impressive! Man, this has the potential to be the best virtual pinball experience known to man.
Crap Weasels! I never knew that much went into these tables and can only imagine the licensing aspect is a nightmare!
Right and who knows what licensing deals the original manufacturers made back in the 70's? Good luck finding the legal team involved with these games some 40+ years later.
Good luck finding whoever (actor, composer) if they're still alive (or not). I got WOW-ed by the video with the physics/gravity part. Never knew so much attention goes into tweaking individual ramps, walls and even bumpers to make the feel realistic.
theres 40 bucks in credit on my itunes acct as of this morning and I'm just chomping at the bit to unload some of it on this game...
From their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pinballarcade The news just keeps getting better all the time. 99 cents a table is dirt cheap. I sure hope we see this app in EARLY January because I don't think I can wait much longer!
I don't exactly get the pricing model of this game. Will this be a premium + subscription based game where you pay to play tables for a month?
No, there won't be any subscription. The 99 cent price is for the featured Table of the Month, and it's just an in-app purchase to unlock the featured table at a lower sale price....non-featured tables will be the normal price ($1.99-$3.99).
What Jeff777 Said! Basically you'll start with maybe 1 free table once you purchase the game and all the rest will be IAPs. No clue if they'll do any sort of bundle pricing but they did say each month one of the IAP tables will be discounted to $0.99 for that month as a featured table. I just wonder how quick they can churn those puppies out considering all of the intense work involved just to bring one through. That has to be some pretty nifty software they've developed that not only can run the table's real ROMs but let them develop the tables near simultaneously on all of the major platforms!
Oh I see, like special price of the month. I don't see how that will impact me though, as I will be buying all available tables at the first possible moment
I'm looking forward to seeing some 60s-early 70's tables: Little Chief, Travel Time, Flower Power, etc.
Agreed. I like the newer stuff, but I often get a bit tired of overly-cluttered modern tables and just need a break sometimes. It's nice to go back to the days when the machines still had plenty of targets to aim for, yet they didn't need a million ramps and a DMD to hold our attention. It's very refreshing actually.
Me too.....The tables were more simple...but more fun too ! Those types tables were always my favorites.
Those are the kind of tables I grew up playing...with analog dials. Space Mission is another I remember playing a lot. And Captain Fantastic. I could go on and on. I love some of the early "digital era" tables too (for lack of a better term) like Gorgar, Eight Ball Deluxe, Black Knight, Xenon, etc.
