As long as there is a static/fixed landscape mode and it allows screen rotation, I'll probably be happy, Jeff.
It's a shame pinball is such a niche market right now. This is probably the best game I've played yet on iOS. Would probably work very well for ipad commercials. If anyone wants to PM some bugs, I'll try to recreate them. I've submitted about 5 so far and may post some requests to them like automatically saving last used table angle. When you close it out and open, it reverts back to scrolling (1).
Yes! I got invited from Norman Stepansky (Farsight) to test the PA on Android OS! "Greetings, Congratulations on being selected as a beta tester for Pinball Arcade. Thanks for your help." Haha got recently my Motorola Xoom 32GB! huhu...
So, since the game is going through beta testing, does that mean it's no longer going to be released in January? Sorry if that's been answered already
Well, I don't have any idea or news when the exact release date...we know that this month is a 'try' month before the final release of this game. People out there is going crazy day by day waiting the creator to announce the final date. I heard that the 'farsight' guy is trying the hard of their strength to release it soon. That's why the beta is come out in the first place in order to make it perfect before the real one... Perfect to say ---- they are ready.
Personally, I'd be surprised if PA sees release much before the end of Feb. Once they get all the bug reports and suggestions in from the beta there'll be some time required to squish them, then maybe another quick round of testing...
I'd say the game is fairly stable, so I don't expect this to be a lengthy testing phase. Farsight has delayed the game a bit in order to position it better on the iOS and Android platforms (like making Apple's "featured title" the week it comes out). This also gives them time to fix some of the issues the beta testers are finding.
I agree with you, this game is way ahead in polish of most games I have played on the iPad that have been updated several times....it could be released today if that was the only thing holding it back.....getting the attention it deserves on the store is the main thing I believe right now. I saw where Reckless Racing 2 is being released on the Feb 2nd....I would guess the week after that....Pinball Arcade hits the store....That's my guess
I love Zen Pinball, but you surely cannot beat, bona-fide emulation of real tables. The attention to detail in them, is outstanding. Whenever you see devs emote so much passion for the subject at hand(that goes beyond it being just another title), you know it's gonna be epic.
question for the developers: how are you implementing nudge? it always frustrates me that iOS pinball games so far have not detailed how the nudging works. For example, in Zen Pinball it says just to shake the device, but how do you specify if you want to nudge left or right? Just a simple comment explaining the nudge behavior would be incredible.
Nudging is terrible in Zen Pinball. The app somehow doesn't respect orientation lock, so if you jerk too hard to one side, the screen re-orients itself. I quickly gave up on nudging altogether. Farsight's nudging worked pretty good in their Wii games, though telling a left nudge from a right nudge can be a little problematic. I'm hoping this game will be at least that responsive.
The video looks amazing. I love The Gameprom and A.S.K homework and Zen efforts, but this really looks amazing. Oddly, the 3DS version of real pinball would have been nice, but it was extremely dark. The vita and ps3 version will be great, but the iPad is the ultimate device for pinball games in my opinion. At word on how many tables will be for sale at launch? I heard it comes with one, and the rest are iap.
I have the beta on my iPad2 and the nudging works pretty well. If you're playing in portrait mode, you swipe the top half of the screen in the direction you want to nudge.
Colorsound, it'll come with Tales of the Arabian Nights (for $.99), and there will be 3 other tables to buy (no pricing yet) - Ripey's Believe it or Not, Black Hole and Theatre of Magic.
