The Pinball Arcade - "@Everybody who's a fan enough to be reading this - I'll post an email address soon for you to sign up for beta testing." Guys, keep standby...
Ha, those were both replies to my questions. I've really been prodding them for info on their facebook page
hahaha....nothing to hide. all for pinball fan! they (farsight) will arrange some online tournament when this release, don't forget to join in...
Sure is nice of them to keep answering all our questions too....so rare anymore for a game company to care like they do !
Someone commented on the change in the physics and they said that they tweaked things after reading comments on the first videos they posted (from the 360). Since all the versions use the same physics engine, this resulted in changes for the iOS version as well. Nice to hear that this is possible, as it would drive me insane to have differences while playing between some of the versions on different systems.
Real good point.....I plan on playing it on a few different platforms too and it would get aggravating if they were different.
That is nice indeed, and it's really awesome to know that they've improved it just in the past few weeks.
Latest video, TOTAN on iPad 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2OoX2r577I Way smoother than Zen on iPad 1...
So glad to see that! If it wasn't way smoother than Zen on the iPad 1....... I was going to buy a iPad 2....even if it was for just a month (until the iPad 3 comes out and sell it)...because this game is *that* good ! I wouldn't doubt this game ends up on a iPhone/iPad commercial !
Glad to hear this performs better than Zen. Frankly the performance issues and physics have been pretty disappointing for me regarding Zen. The ball just doesn't feel right coming off the flippers to me, it lacks that bounciness that PA looks to have captured well.
It is pretty impressive how smooth it runs on the iPad 1. The Farsight guys really seem to know how to optimize their code. I haven't been able to get into Zen as much as I would like to either The tables look nice, but they just don't have the same feel that real tables do (I think a lot of it for me has to do with the flippers being closer together than what I'm used to on real tables, which takes away from the challenge)....but it is fun for what it is. Just wish they could optimize the performance, even on the iPad 2.
Zen is a decent tide-me-over until Pinball Arcade comes out, but that's really about it. The playfields and rules are generally lackluster/lousy and the physics are frustratingly repetitive. That last bit is the worst part about Zen, actually. I hope it's going to be a lot better in The Pinball Arcade. I signed up for beta. Keeping fingers crossed.
