Tigers pitcher Armando Galaragga pitched a perfect 8 and two-thrids inning before a ump spoiled the call....check it at MLB.com

BTW!!! Austin Jackson did make a wille mays killer catch in centerfield in the game see the replay at MLB

Gosh Watching the whole game galarraga was SICK! Only abt 85 pitches.......wow!!!!!!!!!!! :( :(

PS if you can't tell I'm Mad at that ump let's hope they overturn it.

    Hi,

Great catch and great game by Galarraga and a very bad call by the umpire.

Unfortunately there is nothing to be done, no matter how obvious the umpire fubared.

Watching postgame interviews, the Tigers are taking the high road and moving on to the next game.

That is about the best that you can expect.

Well guess what? Jim Joyce admits he blew it. That's like the first time I've heard an official admit a bad call.

This shit better be overturned. But still, it loses the appeal in ways :(

    him.

He got absolutely jobbed. Seriously how can an umpire make a call like that? Anything close should be called safe just to not make a mess like this.

I don't know if you saw but even the runner and the whole indians team was in disbelief when he was called safe......I'm sure some of tge Indians were even sorry for him...are there any indians fans here that agree?

Well ya know, watching the tigers for the past few years, I've seen gallarraga do a perfect game through 5 innings and a few no hitters through 5 as well....Gallarraga isn't all that great, but when he has a good day, he has a GOOD day.

Well, Im guessing a few records have been broken:

Complete game with only 88 pitches.
Crowd boo'ed when they won 3-0(lol)
First game breaking, ump error(not like they're calling it that)

In my books that was the 21st perfect game in the MLB, 1st by a tiger, and first to be pitched against the Indians.

Oh and a willie mays catch was done In that game too(possibly better than Willie mays'?)

Well even if we lost a perfect game for the records...it was a very fun game to watch :)

At first I was angry at Joyce, but now I'm more angry at Selig on how he won't overturn it.

Joyce was crying during the post game conference, he said he missed the "biggest call in his career" and later apologized to the manager and Gallaraga (sp?).

Because of Joyce, I have a new respect for umpires.

    Except Angel Hernandez.

Such a shame. Would have been the third perfect game of this season. Bud Selig didn't overturn it and I have mixed feelings about that - HAD he overturned it for emotional reasons it would have set a bad precedent. But he did admit that they need to look into things to make calls on the field better (perhaps like instant replay?)

The good thing that came of this was the umpire admitting he blew the call and that he made a mistake. I wish we could have celebrated the perfect game but instead we should celebrate the integrity of the umpire. Too often umpires take the power of the game into their own hands and are stubborn in their belief of being "right."

I'm a big Detroit Tigers fan, I live in the suburbs south of Detroit, it's so awful to see a performance of what Gallaraga did, and to see it destroyed by a horrible call....

But we won the game, so that made me feel less sick

I can't believe Selig didn't turn it over. Calls have been reversed in the past correct? Why not reverse this one? Ump admitted he made a mistake, player was a class act, literally everyone wants it reversed. To me I think this would make Selig gain popularity.

You guys can't believe how angry everyone was at school today (I'm in michigan). Even the teachers were pissed.

  17. Call didn't get flipped, unfortunately. I'm kinda pissed.

On the bright side, I can now blame it all on Selig, which is one of my favorite things to do...

  19. Agreed. If one good thing comes out of this, I'll bet the MLB gets full-blown instant replay.

I doubt it. Selig doesn't even seem to give a shit.
