    lol

The 'few' incidents that have occurred have probably been the result of a couple of douche bags ramming TNT down the earphone jack.

Lol, i've had my ipod for 9 months now and I think it's just the conditions they're keeping their ipod in.

That's a lot more interesting than the real reason. Gives me an idea for a science project!!!

15, probably means a few idiots keep their iPods in high heat environments.

3.0 update making their iphones/ipod touches really hot, then they're leaving it in hot places.

...or just a ploy to upgrade to a newer, shinier phone. ;)

might I add that in las vegas, parked vehicles reach temperatures upward of 130 degrees! while I would never leave my phone out in the truck, there's no way to get around using the device in "less than optimal" conditions. when I jump in the truck after work, I plug in my 3GS to listen to music. or I may use the map feature. or whatever else. sure I crank the AC, but it takes some time for it to help in this ungodly environment...

my 1st gen iphone never once seemed to warm up. but my new 3GS gets toasty as a hand warmer from doing just about anything it seems. indoors, in the air conditioning at that. the whole "blame the weather" thing can only go so far. I understand the new device is more powerful, and the extra heat is inevitable, but if devices start failing and being blamed on the environment, there are going to be a lot of unhappy customers.
