No, not that type of game. Standard cars that range from hot hatch to supercar. It's kind of like Test Drive or the original 3DO version of Need For Speed
This looks pretty good. I like the style of it as well (mainly because its cabin view and there are so many iOS car games that don't have cabin view, urg). Id play it. Good job.
Same! The biggest influence was Need For Speed (3DO version), though. The lead artist from that has even been playing Oversteer. Oversteer pays homage to both games and NFS was the spiritual successor to Test Drive, anyway. Yeah, I love playing from the cockpit view. Decided on the cartoon style as it serves two purposes; it gives it a unique look and it also means I don't need anywhere near as many 3D assets, which helps when you're the sole developer!
The game now has an official name. Oversteer was cool but I had loads of people asking me if it was a drift game, so it didn't really suit. Introducing: Will be a new addition added to the dev diary soon too at www.oversteer.co.nz.
No city stuff in this version, though possibly in the next instalment (if this game does well enough, I intend to do a series of them). The game is kinda like the original Test Drive. It's set probably somewhere in the US, one location set over several stages, each getting longer and more difficult than the last. Stage three is pretty windy and you can get some awesome sideways action, though that's not the aim of the game - it's all about getting the quickest segment time.
Hi everyone, Another update has been added to the development diary. I haven't been doing enough of these, as the game takes up the bulk of my time, but it's really interesting (even for myself) to see how far things have come/how much the project has changed! Check it out HERE! While you're there, check out the rest of the site. If you're into cars, it' a cool place to be!
Great that a Publisher is backing you! I wonder who it is? PikPok maybe? I know you can't tell us. Keep up the good work!
Not PikPok, despite them being in NZ. I will hopefully work with them at some point, though. Mario has been extremely supportive of my games. I've only met him once, through a mate who used to be a producer at Sidhe but we've been in touch quite a bit in the virtual world. Good guy and knows his stuff! TBH I went with the crowd I'm with as I hadn't seriously thought about going with a publisher before and they contacted me as they were really excited about the project. I figured it's worth a shot and if they believe in me, I'll let them do what they can to help me sell a few copies
Hey you know what they say, any publicity is good publicity. I think you will sell more than just 'a few copies'.
