Me too, though this game did start as something bigger. Originally it was planned as the "spiritual successor" to the 3DO version of Need For Speed. I have even been in contact with the lead artist from that game and he's been really helpful. Unfortuinately, it was turning out to be an absolutely massive undertaking for a lone developer, so I decided to keep it simpler. Rather than release some graphically limited, barren mess, I decided that toon shading it could give it a bit of gloss, whilst keeping the game much simpler graphically that what was required for a "realistic" sim. The gameplay remains the same though, blasting through traffic, aiming for the best time/score and you have a limited number of cars, or "lives". Three big crashes and it's game over Here's what it looked like earlier on. One day I will release a more realistic looking sim, but when budget allows
Gorgeous screens!!! The 3DO NFS version was great... I want to see more cars and a an hope for release date!!!
Hey, that's the old version! You should be more excited about the new look! Hahaha, jokes. Game has been held up slightly for art reasons... Have a new artist now and he's cranking away, so shouldn't be too far off. Hopefully by end of April
If you achieve the collision engine of the 3DO NFS, you have an instant buyer here. So much praise for (nearly) all the NFS games made after the first one, but none achieved the simulator level of the collision engine of the original.
Looks great! Reminds me of original test drive game on c64/Amiga... That was the best test drive game
Have you seen it running on a C64 with SuperCPU? Looks amazing! So much smoother https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIPJWc59hvU
And one more. Sorry, for some reason my stoopid iPad won't let me attach more than one image to a post.
Cheers I'm HOPING to release it then. I am currently using store bought models for the AI cars but I'm not happy with them as they aren't particularly well done and are way too high poly, so makes the 4S run like crap. I'm going to model them myself, as I did the player cars, so this will add a few days to the project but I'll be more proud of it
