The Shadow Sun is an action RPG, which means combat is dynamic and takes place in real time with epic swordplay and magic tearing up the battlefield. At the same time, you'll still have plenty of tactical options at your disposal.
This might be true of Aralon as well, depending on your personal definition of "dynamic" and "epic" (and possibly "tearing" ). "Dynamic" does not necessarily mean "advanced" or "action-oriented" (and "action-oriented" does not necessarily imply that the system relies on player skill, precision and reflexes). "Epic" implies very little at all, considering how many game studios use it in their game descriptions. If you'd like to sell the Shadow Sun to those of us not quite satisfied with Aralon (particularly the combat system), you'd probably have to be a bit more specific and less subjective than that
I can't comment on Aralon because I played it only very briefly. At a very basic level, combat in The Shadow Sun is action-based, which means you move around and are able to evade enemies and link together chained sequences of attacks in real-time, like in most action adventure games. That's what I meant by "dynamic." Of course, the system goes much deeper than that, but you'll probably have to wait until we have some videos to demonstrate the game in action.
Jesus you guys scared me dibbing on positions already! Well, when this goes into beta phase I'd be thrilled to be a tester as well! But for now.....you need any alpha/pre-alpha testers??
I'm very interested to play this game, been excited about it since I first saw the images! Yes - please play some Aralon, I'm sure there is a lot to be learned and improved upon, and it just makes the whole iOS '3D RPG' genre better. Can't wait! -Josh
Thanks! Just to clarify, I didn't stop playing Aralon because I didn't like it; rather, I didn't read the description properly and found out too late that my hardware wasn't supported when the game kept crashing. Luckily I have a new 4G model, so playing through Aralon is definitely on my to-do list. I know Alan and particularly Elizabeth (Ossian COO) are fans.
"We are pushing back the release of The Shadow Sun for a second time, this time until Fall 2011. The main reason for this is art, which has taken more time and more artists than we anticipated."
And at least we know that the game is coming out! Is it just me or has it been a really slow time for 'Big' games?
yeah but what if when it got released everyone saw that the game was 1 gig. they'd be all like dude i bett this game has sooo much stuff to do in it and good graphics and stuff.
Aralon Sword and Shadow is only 0.3 GB yet it has good graphics and craps load of content. If it's 1 GB or over then I'll be disappointed.
Exactly. Big for me means big in scope and ambition, not necessarily in file size. Apps like Rage without enough content to match their large size are the first to get deleted.
