I remember you from the NWN community. Your modules tended to be really difficult without playing them like turn based strategy games. They were very well designed and very challenging, but required quite a bit of thinking. Given that the average reviewer on itunes seems to have an IQ below 90, what are the accommodations for action gamers or players who are simply too tired after their day to think? Honestly, while I hope there is an easy mode that doesn't do away with the game's flavor like NWN's difficulties under Hardcore did, I probably will buy this anyway just to support you and thank you for the awesome mods you made in your NWN days. Here's to hoping that this game is up to par with those, and that it sells enough for you to go full time doing this!
Guys, for the love of Ghu don't do a stealth release! It would be terrible if an excellent role-playing game goes unnoticed because it isn't hyped enough. Sending it to sites for review isn't sufficient, you have to come here and beat the drums. If you still intend to release in "Spring", you should start giving people some tidbits on a semi-regular basis to build up excitement. YMMV.
Hope the devs are more active here, maybe give some updates or just say that the game isn't dead or something.
Hi. I'm the lead designer and writer on The Shadow Sun. As Alan said, the game is constantly being worked on. We'll have some more details to unveil soon. Fear not; you'll all have The Shadow Sun in your sweaty palms before long. It's going to be worth the wait.
Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed our previous work in the NWN community. The Shadow Sun is an action RPG. While combat involves a good level of tactical depth, players who are new to the genre should have no trouble settling in. The key is to introduce more advanced elements to the game in a structured way that encourages players to embrace, rather than shy away from, the increased complexity. Hopefully we'll have some more details for you soon.
With how long this game has been delayed I'm expecting a completely engrossing console like rpg experience...or an mmorpg
That's the intention. Er, the console-like RPG experience, not the MMORPG part. The Shadow Sun is definitely a single player game.
I'm also expecting it to be the best looking rpg on iOS. Since it's coming out later than others, which came before.
Same. During the Aralon hype, I kept wishing The Shadow Sun would have been the first out the door instead (in the unlikely scenario that it would have been just as pretty and good as it hopefully now will be), and when Aralon turned out not to be to my liking at all (strangely, as open world RPGs top the list of games I enjoy), The Shadow Sun just grew more appealing.
