The build they sent me works great on my iPad with the controller...! I'm guessing this is stuff in App Store approval purgatory somewhere.
It's really surprising this hasn't been approved yet. This is a pretty big game changer, for me at least, and Apple is letting Android run free with this? I mean, if I were looking to purchase a tablet right now, and gaming was an important feature, this kind of puts the iPad behind. Hopefully this will be out soon!
I hope not because that's something that Apple shouldn't underestimate. Let's hope they find a way to bring it to the app store so we can get some really great games from other platforms.
I always thought it was unlikely apple would allow this but you never know, it may come out yet. What I think would have been a great move would be for apple to team up with onlive and build it into apple tv, selling the controller seperately for those that want to use it. The controller could also be used for native apple tv games released in the app store. Add in touch controls from an ipad/pod/phone and the atv could have been huge as a gaming machine. Dream on I guess.
I was thinking just the same thing, but I found this a few weeks ago though a search of news on the topic: http://au.ign.com/articles/2012/03/08/onlive-ipad-player-client-close Perhaps its true, perhaps not. They might be having some difficulties with apple, but it seems they're still trying. They've gotten themselves into trouble with Microsoft lately over their Windows streaming client for tablets, so I expect that that is what they're most worried about at the moment.
So good to see this! I'm glad someone from Onlive is commenting on this. It's been way too quiet for too long
Sorry to bring this topic back from the dead, but has there been any news one way or the other about the Onlive App? I wonder if they ever formally announced that they gave up or are they still trying to get the app approved I wonder.
