MikaMobile: thanks for responding to our comments! I love it when developers talk to the fans! You certainly shouldn't worry about the title of the game. The trailer alone sold the game for me. I'll definitely be gettin a copy! I was simply chatting about the title. As for the ninja vs pirate theme, I think it's great! Maybe the lone ninja wishes to put an end to the ninja/pirate debate single-handedly...once and for all! As you can see, I'm just as excited about it as anyone here, and if Zombieville is any indication (still on my iPhone and a favorite; real quality work!) then OMG Pirates will likely be a hit. Thanks again!
I think the name does it's job very well, it's memorable and definitely stands out - and that's exactly what you need to do in the App Store.
yeah the name is actually really good. i bet you when friends are looking at my games OMG Pirates will be the one they'd want to try out. a couple of my friends are anxiously waiting for the release cause we all loved zombieville.
I really like the game theme... I did the music for the game, and the juxtaposition of ninjas and pirates gave me a lot of fun things to work with... shamisen meets hornpipe.
Hy mikamobile, i think its not the best title for a game but i think it well suits the 'gag' theme of your game.
Oh geez, don't even joke about that! It's still "waiting for review" btw. I'm sure Apple was/is probably closed for turkey day, and there are a couple thousand santa-themed tower defense games ahead of me in the queue. Don't start holding your breath just yet.
I have some questions.... 1. Is the music in the trailer, the music in the game? 2. How do the controls work? It looks like a d-pad, but it like moves around. 3. Will there be a survival mode like in ZombieVille? 4. Does this have a story-line? 5. I noticed the "Level Up" in the pics, does it have RPG elements? Thanks, thats all
1. The music in the trailer is the boss battle theme, one of 4 different tracks we had gravity make for the game. Of course you can play your own music if you prefer, but we wanted to have different tracks for the game's various locations rather than one loop you'd get sick of after 5-10 minutes. 2. The d-pad lookin thing is just an analog joystick, you can move around in 360 degrees with it. It rotates to point at your finger like iDracula's little wheels... which is a bit pointless since its always covered by your thumb, but I thought it was nifty looking 3. There's a zombieville-style survival mode that unlocks after your first clear of the campaign. 4. There is a "story", but we use the term loosely. Something about pirates attacking a ninja village, and then you have to kill everything in sight. There may be rum involved as well. 5. There are some light RPG elements. As you kill guys, you gain experience (the small white bar under your health represents your progress to the next level). Gaining levels steadily unlocks new moves and improves your stats (damage, health, speed etc). Your ninja's level is preserved from session to session, even if you die, so your progress is never lost and carries over into the survival and/or hard mode (which is kind of a new game+).
New tweet: "'OMG Pirates!' has moved from "waiting for review" to "in review"... *gasp*" Yayayayayayaya !
It's that attention to detail (even when it's "unnecessary") that turns a decent game into a great one. OMG Pirates has jumped pretty much to the top of my most-awaited-titles list.
