Once Square Enix sees that they can make serious money off FF1&2, then maybe, they'll make the later FF of the series.
Yeah, hopefully they will get the message. But the only one that I actually want ported is FFVI, and that may be a very long time coming, especially if they decide to port all the previous ones before that :C
Thx. I Found my image on several ff 2 sites, but maybe they were for ff 4, because they had a name change in different countries. But the difference is now even more extreme
Did you beat both the Ultimate bosses? I can't remember their names... One was underwater and one was in the desert. I think I beat whichever was the easier of the two but not both It's been awhile. In FFX, I remember beating the game somewhere around 60-70 hours into it (I'd done a bunch of sidequesting and leveling up and beat the end game boss very easily) but to beat the toughest enemy in the game, at the arena, it took me something like an additional 60 hours or so to become strong enough to beat it. FF1 was the first RPG I ever played and it's probably been around 15 years since I beat it... It'll definitely be fun to check out the new enemy designs as someone suggested. Lich definitely does look a lot more badass on the PSP version.
I swsearsear Square just can't win on these boards. They make and release some original games for the iPod and iPhone, and people whine about it because the don't want square to make new games, they wantthem to port old games. But every other dev in the app store gets ripped apart for releasing ports, instead of original games. Yes, many devs have failed in Their attempts toport old ges, and even Square has been lukewarm with games like Crystal Defenders, but still. It seems like it's just square that is getting the shaft from people here. And now that Square IS starting to trickle FF ports into the app store (allegedly) then BAM, "it's not the FF I want!" Give it some time man!
Hmm this has changed my opinion. But I am not sure if I wil get it, atleast it isnt the original game, which just seems way too dated.
yeah your right zenonia, hybrid, and inotia had way better ancient evil/ good guy story lines than those old retarded ancient evil/ good guy story lines in those crappy FF games. you dont even have to play those games to know that they are crap you just have to look at how retarded anyone over thirty is. i mean you didnt take much to entertain people back then. they were happy just doing outdoor activities and grass and sunshine. it was only when the ps2 came out that there were good writers and creative and imaginative people come up with good rpg story lines i dont even think that people knew what a story line was before that only about ten percent of them were even literate
Then Role-Playing Games are just not for you since the basic story in just about every single one is some variation of "good versus evil" with "good guys" and "bad guys". Try something that meets your level of sophistication and expectation, such as any First-Person Shooter that only has online play and no offline story mode. Stay away from strategy games too since they're also a boring variation on the "good versus evil" theme. Also stay away from just about any point-n-click game. And for God's sake, do NOT, repeat DO NOT, play Galaga or Space Invaders since it's nothing but "good versus evil". Take your blinders off, junior.
My big problem with it is that they've released these two games... 5 times now? on the NES, on the PS1, on the Wonderswan Color (but that doesn't count) on the GBA, on the PSP and now on the iTouch. Can't they make an original game or something? and wow, guy, did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed? <rant> a good story doesn't always have the same core good vs evil thing going on. in fact, a /good/ story doesn't cue you in on who's good and who's evil, because in real life, there /is/ no good or evil, just lots of in-between. and Final Fantasy 1's story is seriously shit. there's really no plot to it at all, it's just "OH NO, EVIL IS ATTACKING, YOU FOUR, GO DEAL WITH IT!" your characters never really develop, no other characters really ever develop, and aside from you saving the world, nothing significant goes on in the plot line o3o. it's really cut and dry and really basic. let's look at FFIII, though, and you see that there are in fact actual /characters/ in it, your main four do have lines, and do in fact have personalities, even though they're marginal in the original, in the DS one they're very strong, and they change over the course of the game. you meet characters that join your party and find out things about them that are interesting and that matter. In FFII, characters have noble sacrifices after you've started to care about them, and that makes that game's story strong, and in FFX, you find out that one of the characters who was indeed one of the good guys changed, and is now a bad guy, and that all of the bad guys had intentions that may have been construed as right, if you were looking from their side o3o </rant>
FF1 does have a good plot, the only problem is that it's all in the final boss's rant before the last battle
I knew the FF fanbois would tear me apart, seeing that it is an updated version does give me some faith... @Outkast1, I was thinking elucidate, and illuminate and I hadn't slept in like 30+ hours (insomnia)
wow dude.. wow, probably the most hypocritical thing I have read in a while, I havent read every page but Im guessing that there is much of the same. First of all, I would appreciate SquareEnix to release a game sophisticated enough for the iPhone.. somehow Im not sophisticated enough? I laugh at this. Ive played some of FF1 and it was the most bland, generic, would-not-ever-use-the-word-sophisticated thing I ever tried. Then you reference Space Invaders and Galaga... Space Invaders... dude learn to make an argument
Between the early versions (NES) and the latter versions (PSP, GBA, Wii) are changes in the storyline. I see FFI&II as an opportunity - to get more FF games ported to iDevices and maybe later even Zelda. I definately would like to see Ocarina Of Time comming to the iPhone.
I think its funny how iPhone gets these hand-me-down ports, and y'all expect that they are going to be putting FF7 or something like that on the iPhone (which it could do).. Ocarina of TIme will never be on the iPhone unless you jailbreak.. the day that the n64 app really works I will JB my touch
