Ah, didn't know it has been updated. Thanks for the info. Still had the second until recently. Getting anyway. Will be a good test for series. Set the standard for RPGs.

EDIT: i shouldve mentioned Ive never played any Final Fantasy games and that's why I'm playing them. I also might get the new FF XIII for ps3

FFXIII is nothing like a FF game to be fair, recommend going through VI, VII, VIII and IX if you want a real feel for the series.

how old are most TA'ers anyway?

as for me, I think I am too old to fantasize .. the reality is that I've played this a long time ago, and something is better left as good memory, rather than to be resurrected like this ..

well, I'll buy it if it is 99c .. just to have FF icon among hundreds of other true itouch games that I have ..

Being that it's SE, I can pretty much guarantee that you'll never buy FF1 or FF2 at $.99.

On the age question, I'm probably one of the older TA members, and I'm really just discovering the series now (mainly through FF7 on my PSP). These came out while I was in college and not doing a lot of gaming. By the time I was getting back into it, I'd made the mistake of watching the FF movie and lost all interest on the franchise. Later on, Crisis Core pushed me even further away from it. Ironically, it was my fellow TAers who got me curious about FF again; I'll be glad to give the first couple of titles a shot (particularly in their PSP updated form).

Have you beaten VII yet?? If you need help with ANYTHING...I'm the dork to go too. That was the first RPG I ever fell head over heals in love with...

That's ok, if it more than 99c, I wont buy it .. I just want the icon, so nothing to lose ..

Which FF movie did you watch, Spirit Within? I think you should watch Advent Children .. that, along with FFVII - FFX will give you the true FF experiences .. and if I were U, I'll stay away from FF1/FF2 .. I'll bet it will step you away further considering you've played FF7 before ..

If you really like the JRPG graphics instead of 3D, then try FFVI (try it on SNES emulator) .. that is among the best of the series ..

My goodness, no -- just getting started. I like it a lot, but I wish I were playing it on a larger screen. It looks so dinky and blurry on my PSP 1000.

Funny thing is, I think it was one of your comments that got me to pick it up when I noticed it on PSN. Thanks! :)

EDIT: I'm sure I'll take you up on your offer at some point. Thanks again.

Yeah, Spirit Within. Probably the longest 106 minutes (okay, I looked it up) I've ever spent in a movie theatre. Didn't know they'd released another one -- I'll see if I can find it.

I've got my fill with FF VII right now, but I'm sure I'll be working my way through the series eventually.

I've been trying to find a good photo of how the game (or any PSOne Classics for that matter) appears on PSP... do you own a decent camera by any chance? Ideally I'd like a photo of the menu too.

I'm so confused, why is there a crudely drawn option to spoon in the first screenshot?

I'm a graphic designer, so, yeah, I have a decent camera ;). I think I can do that for you, probably later this afternoon.

Oliver, your first comparison pic is from FF4, not FF1. The original NES version of FF1 looked much worse :)

The story for FF1 is very good btw; it starts out pretty generic, but the OMG PLOT TWIST at the end is still one of the best to this day IMO.
