I already have a cell phone and personally wouldn't want an iPhone anyway. But I do love handheld devices and have a DS Lite, PSP, and perhaps soon an iPod Touch. With rumors of a new Touch coming next month, I'm curious what current users and potential adopters are hoping to see in the upcoming model! Remember to vote and sound off!
Besides what's been mentioned, I'd like a back that doesn't scratch if you even look at it the wrong way. I hate the backs on the iPods....
Defianatly more battery life right now it just dies to quickly. Personally I don't care if it has a camera or not
I alreay know that the 3g touch will have a camera but I'm almost sure it with have everything else you mentioned too so I would not hold bak on the new touch.
Everything you mentioned there is already speculated to happen although I'm not too sure how significant the battery upgrade is. Apple always mentions a few more hours improvement in specs, but honestly, it's not significant in real life usages especially for gamers with wifi on. And on a gaming relevant note, definitely double the RAM and another processor speed bump. I wanna see more premium games and apps. I have my money bankd away for the highest capacity once it hits the shelves hopefully on Sept 9th/10th. I'm sure the devs are now waiting to jump on what the third generation iPod touch can do in full throttle. If it's just the 3GS processor, no problem as well. But last year, the touch leap-frogged into a faster one compared to the 3G. With the ZuneHD sporting a Tegra processor, here's hoping Steve Jobs will pull a nicer rabbit out of his hat.
Does anyone know when Apple updates their site? I want to see what the new features and release date are going to be (that's if a new touch is coming out).
September they'll show it off at their conference on the 25th. Personally I won't be buying it because it will obviously cost more and I can't fork up that much money so quick, no way lol EDIT: The conference is on the 25th of September. That's not when it will be released but they'll definitely show it at the conference
I think we will see a bump in specs similar to the iPhone 3GS with faster cpu, and increased ram, we may also see capacity increased to 64GB which I think would mean an end to the 8GB model. Based on the circulating images of cases already in production and unconfirmed photos of the 3G Touch a camera looks to be likely and although some have speculated that in order to keep the iPhone a premium product it may only be on the level of the 3G camera without video capability however to keep production cost down it makes more sense to use the same hardware and offer the same functionality as the 3GS camera but I think there will be a twist. Information in the USB Device configuration file found in the beta version of OS 3.1 indicate the possibility of 2 new iPod products, iPod2,2 and iPod3,0 so perhaps we will see the Touch available in an entry level model the same as the current version iPod2,1 but with the faster CPU and extra RAM and a premium model with the addition of the camera at a much higher price point. If this is the case it opens up the unlikely possibility that as well as the camera the premium model could be suitably priced to include 3G data only access allowing MMS capability and GPS functionality for the compass app, geo-tagging photos and using navigation apps like TomTom. With a media event reportedly announced for the 9th September which I think will include the release of OS 3.1 and iTunes 9.0 we will know soon enough what Apple is offering in it's new iPod line-up.
Whispers point towards September 9th. By early next week, we will hear Apple confirming a date for the event. Check out the links below: http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/17/apples-ipod-event-set-for-september-9th-with-nary-a-tablet-in-s/ http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=767437 The good thing about the 64gb capacity bump is that those planning to buy 32gb/16gb can get those cheaper than the current pricepoint, and you'll have the bigger RAM and faster processor as well.
Well, as much as i'd like to probably buy a new Touch, that ain't gonna happen anytime soon. I just bought a new car today, so i'm going to have to hold on to my 32gb Touch for a little longer.
