    Itunes:

+ Great library of media that you might not be able to get anywhere else or might not have existed if it wasn't for Itunes.
    + Low prices
    - It's slow and laggy a lot of the time.
    - Transferring media to your Iphone takes forever.
    - Locks your Iphone in so you can't use it as an external HDD like an old Ipod and you can't use basic formats like AVI or FLAC.
    - Would like to see PC and MAC games be sold.
    - The interface can be a pain to use and take time to learn.
    - The whole syncing thing is a pain because it wants to delete apps that you want on your Iphone, but you don't want to take up space on your PC. Theres no way to say don't delete these items or whatever.

    Iphone:

    + Looks great
    + All in one device
+ The phone to have in Popular culture
+ Lots more apps than anyother phone
    - The actual phone part isn't the best and the shape makes using it for a long time, uncomfortable. Basic things like not being able to customize text alert sounds or having to pay for ringtones is annoying.
    - 3G never seems to work on the phone, they say free data with 3G but no wonder why, it always cuts off when you want to actually use it.
    - I never seem to have much signal with the phone like I do with other mobiles. My old phones were great and always had a strong signal but this is my first modern mobile and I'm not impressed.
    - Theres no keypad so texting and internet browsing is really annoying, especially if you have big fingers.
    - No flash support so browsing the internet is pretty much useless if you want to do anything useful with it.
    - No Camera flash so you can't take photos at night, which is when I'm out drinking with mates and want to.
    - No Camera zoom...
    - Low quality camera
    - Speaker quality is pretty poor
    - Low battery life and you can't remove the battery to use another one.
    - No radio
    - Can't expand storage with cards like other phones.

    Games.

So far there are tons of games but you have to sort through 99% of the crap to get to the few gems. The problem with the games in general are that you get Gamelofts gimmick of trying to just do PS2 looking graphics on the Iphone. However there are no buttons on the Iphone so the games never work and they just feel like crap versions. The touch screen needs something original like what the DS gets, not cheap knock offs or the 3D gimmick on a mobile.

Then you get the tons of games that could and probably have been done as a free flash game. Only you're being charged for them because the phone doesn't support flash. There are tons of these games with no animation and anyone could make them like Doodle Jump. While the game is fun for five mins, it doesn't make it a worthwhile gaming experience. I mean I have no interest in making games but looking into the work it takes to program some of these games.... it's like 2 hours of work and then someone to draw up the art.

The device needs buttons because most games are just never going to work without it. It is really annoying to have to move the Iphone to steer and then press on the screen for the buttons. In Skies of Gory I had the most trouble with this, if only the Iphone had shoulder buttons, it would work. Driving games just don't feel right because they accelerate for you, which takes out all the skill.

I'm not impressed with the Iphone at all. I think for the general user who isn't in to using a PC then it might be great, for the more advanced users there are better phones out there. I see a lot of girls buying these touch screen phones now with keypads on them because they're really into texting and want to do it fast. My friends bought HTC mobiles because they support flash and have a camera flash and they use windows, aren't locked down. You know they're running emulators to run games for all kinds of platforms.

If Apple doesn't address the basic problems and if they don't support flash and a camera flash in the future, then they're shooting themselves in the foot. I hope they do it for the 4G because then upgrading will be a lot easier... I just don't have any faith in them after the whole Ipad crap.

    - The actual phone part isn't the best and the shape makes using it for a long time, uncomfortable. Basic things like not being able to customize text alert sounds or having to pay for ringtones is annoying.

    -> True

    - 3G never seems to work on the phone, they say free data with 3G but no wonder why, it always cuts off when you want to actually use it.

-> Well, no problem here. But I’m with T-Mobile in Germany. Give this one to At&T.

    - I never seem to have much signal with the phone like I do with other mobiles. My old phones were great and always had a strong signal but this is my first modern mobile and I'm not impressed.

-> No problems here as well. Only sometimes in the subway I don’t have a connection.

    - Theres no keypad so texting and internet browsing is really annoying, especially if you have big fingers.

-> You get used to this. Years ago I had a 6210 and loved the keypad. I hated all other keypads in the years after it and wasn’t able to type fast. With the iPhone, I can type fast again. But it takes time to get used to it.

    - No flash support so browsing the internet is pretty much useless if you want to do anything useful with it.

-> This, for me, is a feature. But I also use clicktoflash on the Mac to block flash content.

    - No Camera flash so you can't take photos at night, which is when I'm out drinking with mates and want to.

    -> True.

    - No Camera zoom…

    -> True. And sad.

    - Low quality camera

    -> True. Also sad.

    - Speaker quality is pretty poor

-> Have no problems with the speaker and find it rather loud. Especially compared with my old 2G iPhone, the 3GS rocks.

    - Low battery life and you can't remove the battery to use another one.

-> True. But most Smartphones which do Internet over 3G and play 3D games have a low battery life.

    - No radio

-> There are hundreds of apps for that.

    - Can't expand storage with cards like other phones.

-> WTF do you put on your iPhone? ;) I have 32GB and still about 10 left…

My friends bought HTC mobiles because they support flash and have a camera flash and they use windows, aren't locked down.

-> Yes, they use Windows. Or Android. So, not buyable to me. And I used both OSes and know what I speak of ;).

  3. You don't like the iPhone. Once again, we get it. Why are you still here whining about it?

General impressions? Sounds pretty detailed to me.
I'am reading mainly of complaints (ehem.....whiners) in both posts (first two).
(doubt if either would be happy with ANY phone).

Bad form considering this is a game forum for iphones/touch devices.

BTW....I believe both of these products (iPhone/Touch) are the GREATEST THING ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH!

And I don't need to back it up because I'm on a forum with thousands (and thousands and...) of people that would think the same. You are in the minority. Why stay?

Think I'll leave the room. It'll get hot in here with all the flaming to come.
We shouldn't even honor this thread with any response actually but had to voice MY IMPRESSION of your posts.

I only read the last sentence. It's possible you have some valid points but I wouldn't say Apple are shooting themselves in the foot, a better analysis would be "Apple are making shitloads of money".

In my experience, you must have a PC or Mac to use this phone. With out them you could not restore the phone. I have already gone through this. All it takes is a corrupted download and your phone could become unstable/unusable. Being able to restore through iTunes makes this not such an issue.

There is no way this is real, what Slashdot comment did you copy and paste that list from? Stopped being believable as soon as FLAC was mentioned.

    - It's slow and laggy a lot of the time.

Bullshit. Show me an OS that runs smooth as butter 100% of the time. The iPhone actually masks it's speed hurdles pretty well if you ask me.

    - Would like to see PC and MAC games be sold.

You understand software has to be ported over to the iPhone which is only a fraction as powerful as a modern desktop computer. Old games are being ported over to the platform as fast is as humanly possible.

    - The interface can be a pain to use and take time to learn.

Seriously? My dad can't turn on his TV or use a microwave but he figured out the iPhone within a few hours.

    - The whole syncing thing is a pain because it wants to delete apps that you want on your Iphone, but you don't want to take up space on your PC. Theres no way to say don't delete these items or whatever.

As with all Apple products the main media library is on your computer. You can't just stick stuff on your phone and delete it from the library, that's not how it works. If your running out of space on your computer due to apps maybe it's time to upgrade from that 40GB HD?

    - The actual phone part isn't the best and the shape makes using it for a long time, uncomfortable. Basic things like not being able to customize text alert sounds or having to pay for ringtones is annoying.

I used to use a phone roughly the same size and shape as a credit card and it was a pain in the ass to use. Most phones are too damn small IMO. You don't have to pay for ringtones, 5 minutes on google should walk you through the process of making your own. As far as changing other sounds jailbreak, jailbreak, jailbreak.

    - Theres no keypad so texting and internet browsing is really annoying, especially if you have big fingers.

Again, seriously? I have mammoth sized hands and the only physical thumbboard on a cell phone I've ever been able to type easily on is the one on the sidekicks.

    - No flash support so browsing the internet is pretty much useless if you want to do anything useful with it.

If by anything useful you mean "watch video" then I agree with you, it's honestly not that big of a deal if I don't have flash on my cell phone but I'd have a problem with it on a larger device.

    - Low battery life and you can't remove the battery to use another one.

Yet there are dozens of external battery solutions for the iPhone many of them smaller and cheaper then carrying around an extra internal battery for most other devices.

    - No radio

Except for the dozens of radio apps out there? I've got FM radio over 3G, internet radio, XM radio, Pandora radio.. These solutions don't fill the gap of not having a shitty FM antenna installed?

    Games

Bitch bitch bitch, whine whine whine.. Come on man, even if only 1% of the games are good that's still dozens of titles worth your time for less then the cost of a sandwich.

You know what? I'm not super happy with the lack of flash or multitasking ether, but I'm not sitting around whining about it. I just jailbroke and will keep it jailbroken until Apple fixes the nitpicks with their software or my contract is up and I switch to an Android phone. Easy.
