Cash Cow, i.e. match-3ish game with coins (can add up to 5 cents, 25 cents or $1.00 to make a match and your score is the money banked), quite fun for adults, and I love the fact that its educational for my almost 8 year old as well. Missing online leaderboards, or I'd be truly addicted. The other negative is that its too easy if you play the untimed variation. Apart from those 2 issues, its pretty perfect.
Great game. My whole family loves it !!! and only .99 Ravenblack: Thanks for pointing me towards "Turn" ...great game !
Wonderful idea for a topic. Hope it catches on as a lot of stuff falls through the cracks that shouldn't. Anyway, just off the top of my head I can only think of one game that was released pre-October that deserves more mention: Gold Miner Joe A platformer with a pretty cool control scheme. Rather than strap us with virtual dpad and buttons as so many other games do, the developers of this one went with another idea instead: Swipe and hold to move, swipe upwards to jump (and angle of jump depends on angle of swipe), and tap to shot Joe's rocks. It's not as difficult as it sounds at all. In fact, it's quite simple to grasp. The swipe controls are handled ala Bobby Carrot, and most everyone who has played Bobby Carrot Forever knows that the swipe method was refined to near perfection in that game. Gold Miner Joe takes it to another level by implementing it quite well and smoothly in a side scrolling platformer. Here's a vid: [hqyoutube]kHNsBmqaU8c[/hqyoutube] NOTE: the player in the vid uses one finger to play, but you need not do this. In fact, I'd recommend you use both thumbs to play. Control movement with one thumb, and use the other for jump swipes and shot taps. It's like controlling most other platformers this way, but using the swipe controls all at once, and without the ugliness (and, IMHO, cheapness) that onscreen virtual dpads and buttons give off as a vibe. The game is an unsung platformer having been released in a pretty low key fashion despite the front page TA preview given it, and probably due to so many killer releases and updates lately. Also, nu age retro freaks might have overlooked this one for Hook Champ. Sad, because you can get both for $3 (before taxes) together. Here are the links: TA front page preview TA Thread Full Version Lite version Oh, and here's a browser version that you can try out on your computer (NOTE: the browser version does not have the same levels as the iPhone version from what I've seen, nor the same deeper and better implemented level progression): Gold Miner Joe browser game The iPhone/touch version is available now for only a buck. An absolute steal, IMHO.
Ok I'll add my opinions, Thirty One Reason for choosing: It's a different kind of card game and oddly addicting, it's my first game with OpenFeint and it was a lot of fun competing on the leaderboards. It's a game I always go back to. Reason for choosing: Well I just found out about this game today and I'm really enjoying it, I'm really surprised I had never heard of it, so it certainly fits as a hidden gem in my book. First up is definitely Bobble Surfer Link Thread Lite Review (my own from a while back) Though the thread here has 500+ posts, 80% of those come from three or four people, hehe. So yah, i'd certainly consider it a hidden gem. One of my alltime favorite pick up and play games for the iDevice.
Thanks for the recommendation for Turn Episode 1. It's quite a cool game. Here's another hidden gem: iPharaoh. http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=25782
You've already listed most of the games I could think of. I'd suggest a couple more... -Great leaping Lambrettinis. -MArble Blast.
This came out in May but with Hexage's [app]Totemo[/app] and [app]Radiant[/app] getting attention, people should check out this cute little gem.
