MintCity Well-Known Member Jun 24, 2016 200 1 18 #6 MintCity, Feb 23, 2017 I think that the psp and 3ds versions are much better. I've played monster hunter games on all 3 platforms you mentioned and I think my favorite would be on the 3ds. Specifically monster hunter 4 ultimate. I've had a couple hundred hours in a variety of games in the monster hunter series. This monster hunter on iOS is fantastic if you want monster hunter on your phone. They did a great job making it accessible and playable. It's a steal at the current price. The only reason to get this is if you want it on a phone. If you want to play a monster Hunter game and you have any of the other platforms, I would suggest getting it on those instead. OrangutanKungfu Well-Known Member Dec 29, 2015 1,011 0 0 Media UK #7 OrangutanKungfu, Feb 23, 2017 I'm not going to argue against MintCity's personal preference for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, but comparing MHFU with MH4U isn't really a fair comparison. This is an excellent version of MHFU, with a very smart use of the touchscreen for the virtual controls. But as Amenbrother says, EP is the expert. The MHFU thread on this forum is over 640 pages long - despite the fact the game was out of action for more than a year. That pretty much speaks for itself. L.Lawliet Well-Known Member Jun 28, 2011 6,405 420 83 #8 L.Lawliet, Feb 24, 2017 I wouldn't compare this to the new gens as that's totally unfair but if you compare MHFU to it's same counterpart of PSP, I think many would agree this one is just a lot better in so many ways. I think you'd be missing some exclusive outfits but that's about it. The controls are better imo (no claw handing) and the graphics are sharp, not a huge battery drain, etc. So much praise for a port coming from me. slighmd Well-Known Member Mar 30, 2009 641 2 18 Surgeon Philippines #9 slighmd, Feb 24, 2017 AFAIK, of all the games released in the Monster Hunter series in both consoles and handhelds/mobiles, MHFU is actually the hardest of them (Plesioth hip check etc). Later releases like MHGen made it actually easier but the challenges are still there. LOL Exact-Psience Well-Known Member Jan 12, 2012 22,664 3 38 The Work-At-Home Guy Philippines #11 Exact-Psience, Feb 24, 2017 As mentioned above, it's unfair to compare to the newer versions as this is a DIRECT port of the PSP version of MHFU. It is a direct port, that has been UPDATED to use higher def graphics (PSP was a visually dumbed down version of the PS2 titles). On the PSP, it was initially hand-cramping learning "the claw" to simultaneously control the character movement and the camera rotation with the left hand alone. The iOS version has an easier Swipe with the right hand camera control scheme, and on top of that, it has adapted the camera lock-on of the later MH titles, which makes things simpler. It has everything that the PSP version has including ALL DLC content EXCEPT the brand promotional ones (like the Shonen Jump stuff and the Metal Gear Solid stuff). That, and this has an innate wifi multiplayer support whereas the PSP was local proximity only, although the online community is a little bit slow now. You should still be able to find others to play with you. If you want to compare MHFU to other MH titles, just know that most MH veterans prefer this and MHP3 (both on the PSP) are better than the Wii titles, and are arguably better than the 3DS versions, but that's pretty much subjective. I remember buying the older version a long time ago but never progressed too far because I couldn't get the swipe controls down and ended up getting frustrated. I know the this game offers the "complete" experience..but I mostly just want to try out the fighting again. Is the fighting in this game much more responsive and worth getting just for the fighting? I'm playing a lot less variety of games now a days so I feel almost ready to take my time learning the fighting in this game again. skeerup Well-Known Member Feb 1, 2010 58 0 0 #17 skeerup, Mar 1, 2017 Dynamic is terrible in comparison. Almost nothing to it. The battles in it seem "arcadish". I only started playing this game on the Wii. Add soon as it dipped in the app store it was a day one purchase for me. I put in 300 hours before the iOS update that made the app unusable. I deleted it and have started over again. It's way too much fun. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
