They're probably waiting for the 3G ipad hype to be done. So it's most likely gonna come out in a couple of weeks. On their twitter, they said there's no release date as of yet, and they wanna make sure the game is top notch before release.....what a load of bull
I don't believe anything they say. Right after the iPad launch they said iphone gamers would be playing the game before the end of April. The game was supposed to be pretty close to release way back last November. They mananged to start, finish, and release the iPad version since then, but they're still working on the iPhone version now? No. If they don't want to release it because they think somehow they can make more money by holding it, fine. The iPad has 1/270th the user base of the iPhone, but if they think competition between the iPad and iPhone would hurt their bottom line, so be it. Just stop screwing with iPhone users and set a real release date. I had over sixty bucks in iTunes credit at the begining of April, and Mirrors Edge was one of the things I was going to get with it. I'm down to fifteen dollars of that credit now, and if EA doesn't provide an actual release date soon, I'm just going to give in and get Iron Man, Canabalt and a few songs with the credit I have left instead.
That's what makes me scratch my head: they're missing out on an installed base that is 90-100 (not 270) times larger than the one for the iPad. And the thing is, this is by far the most accomplished game EA has released on the platform. The iPad version is really just a great action game that makes perfect use of the touchscreen interface. The only reason I can think of for the delay is that they're trying to make it work on older generation devices (the graphics are pretty intense).
Ya, I guess that 1/270th was based only on the number of iPads sold during it's launch weekend. Obviously its sold more since then, but the iPhone/itouch market is still vastly, vastly bigger.
Not everyone having an ipad would consider gaming on it and even those who do may not be interested in this game.
Whatever you do DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT buy Iron Man 2. It is a complete disappointment and a total waste of $10. It is up on my list of worst iPhone games i've purchased.
I think the report after the end of the first week had it over a million. But I agree on the general point: it's a much larger market.
Still waiting on this, still waiting. It feels like NFSU all over again. I was dying for that game to come out. According to the iPad players, this game is excellent. I can't wait to get my hands on it!
Me too!! You don't delay a game for 4-5 months and keep mentioning release dates. I have a feeling this game isn't gonna live up to my standards. And knowing EA (and judging based on the ipad price) this game is gonna be 9.99 if it is anywhere near that, I'm sure as hell not gonna buy it
Sadly, companies like EA don't learn lessons; they find scapegoats. If this fails, EA will surely blame the platform (just like Ubisoft did after AC2 underperformed). That will only encourage them to put out more cheaply made crap with brand equity, instead of creating original games that are specially designed for touchscreens.
