Mirror's Edge got pretty varied reviews and honestly if someone rated the iPhone version above the console one, it says more about how much they hated the console version vs. the quality of the iPhone one.
Let's be honest, the iPhone Mirror's Edge will be similar to the console game like how Assassin's Creed 2 on the iPhone was compared to the console game (average iPhone game at best vs. a high quality GOTY candidate for the 360/PS3).
Haha I picked up the original for my ps3 today at gamestop for 15 bucks. Now I won't have to pay almost as much for the mobile! Starting to realize that mobile is nicer and more convenient, but console is a little funner for me.
Mirror's Edge was one of the most risky and awesome games ever made, IMO. It is one of my top ten favorite games of all time, easily. The iPad cash grab here kind of pisses me off. I don't want that POS. I just want the game for my iPhone.
Well, I happen to think that AC2 is one of the best action games on the iPhone, so if Mirror's Edge has a similar relationship to the console original, I'll be plenty happy. ACII an average iPhone game? Man, that's just crazy talk.
If you think about it, it makes business sense. Nobody is going to drop $15 for a game that you can get on the iPhone for half the price. I wouldn't be suprised if this is happening on a number of games. I've also heard the Apple approval process is ridiculous right now and iPhone games are being held up while iPad games are getting approved quickly.
Well that's great then, cause I'm having a blast with the original! It's very immersive. Although, the coolest part of it is the first person view, so we'll see how it turns out on the iPod. Don't get me wrong, it looks pretty sweet, but I will not buy it for 10 bucks if it's a graphically supreme version of run/canabalt. It better have a solid campaign. Like 5 hours, seeing as the console game costs 20 and lasts about 7ish hours. I really hope it's good.
Don't count on it. Don't most of these iPhone imitations of console action games (Hero of Sparta, Assassin's Creed 1 and 2 etc..) only last a few hours?
I was extremely disappointed that after this long long wait for Mirror's Edge to come to iPhone, they release the iPad version first. I was even more disappointed that EA might have ****ed us all over by releasing just an iPad version and not an iPhone one ever. Thankfully, it looks like an iPhone version is still coming out. Whew... that's good to hear. Really ****ing hate the fact that they brought the iPad version out first though, especially since no one can play that right now, so what is the point? P.S. Sorry, been a really bad day.
Well I think the iPad is going to be the platform everyone is focusing on for a while. I'm sure things will settle down and the iPhone will be more focused on after the iPad launch is behind us.
Sorry about your bad day. A lot of devs are now putting most of their efforts into ipad apps in the hope that the ipad sales model will be more profitable than the iphone's. I doubt it will saty at the $14.99 levels since even those are already coming down to $12.99, but the iphone pricing levels are unhealthy for long term sustainable investment. Until the ipad prices stabilize at whatever level they will, ipad apps will probably come first. One more reason to say a big thank you to Imangi for making such a hit as Harbor Master available for Free. Keith and Nataly are amazing in their experimental approach. This coming on the back of their 1000 app give-away.
