I'm looking forward to the more detailed backgrounds and remixed soundtrack.
Is it possible to disable the automatic gravity gun in the iPad version?

I'm looking forward to trying the HD version of this game (have the iPhone version), but so far haven't really enjoyed twin-stick style games on the iPad that much. The weight and feel of the iPad isn't as good for double-thumb action as a smaller device like iPhone, DS, PSP, etc..

    Anyone else feel like this?

Agreed. It is sort of like the orginal XBox controller.

The extra screen size makes up for it to me. I get a little more arm workout which is a goodthing anyway :). Always room for more dual stick shooters for iPad.

I'm very excited about this. Meteor Blitz was/is one of the best space shoot-em-up games on the iPhone, and I can't wait for the HD version!

Yup, and we've just submitted an update to the iPod version as well.

Most notably, the update has customizable controls (auto grav gun, boost, bomb) and even better framerates, and particle effects. Unfortunately, the extended remix soundtrack doesn't fit in memory so we had to keep that part the same.

Yup, it will be possible to disable the automatic gravity gun.

Personally, the bigger particle effects and the bigger playing field are what I like the best on the iPad version. Having played both a lot lately, I find the iPad version feels a lot more "epic".

    IPad updates...

    Hyung

    - just saw the video and can't wait for it to be available. But I do have a question. Not sure if it had been answered already.

Can the control location be repositioned elsewhere to be customizable?

Sorry, we didn't have enough time to add that feature. But we can certainly put it in an update.

Do you happen to know of any iPad games that allow controls to be repositioned?

We tried using the Geometry Wars/Minigore HD-style control, but we had problems getting it to work with the bomb and switch weapon buttons, and we found that style of control feeling a little slippery.

Isotope: A Space Shooter has controls that position themselves to wherever you touch your fingers. The biggest issue that I have had is that I can't find any position that really just feels comfortable to me. I think it is too many years of console controllers, and the iPad is much wider, so it just feels weird... But, I continue to play the games, and am really looking forward to seeing how Meteor Blitz is going to play.

Any game loft game has repositional controls. You go into settings and you are able to drag the controls to a new position then when you play you will have the new settings. This is what your talking about. Not geo wars or isotope which use 'floating' controls.

After playing a bunch of dual control games I don't think I like the controls that reposition every time you touch the screen as much as the static placement. It would be nice to be able to reposition them in the setting screen though for those that might hold the ipad differently.

I am getting used to the bigger control area when playing the iphone version on the ipad so I am wondering how big the control area will be on the ipad version. I feel like I have just a little more precise movement control with the iphone version on the ipad. I wonder how the game would play with a joystick/control area radius adjustment to tweak how much control area you have. Control customization options are always a nice thing to see.

I'm really looking forward to Meteor Blitz HD. It's a great iPhone title - it'll be great to have on the iPad too.

    Good luck with launch!

Zurie got it right. To use the setting screen to reposition.

Now what would be a bonus if we had a iPhone Bluetooth client for the MB HD. To place the controls on the phone.

I know that is abit much to ask for. And have to consider lag response time.

@zurie Do you happen to know which Gameloft game allows for repositioning controls? I just tried NOVA, Sandstorm and Dungeon Hunter (iPad), but can't seem to find a way to do it. They have multiple control schemes and sensitivity, but as far as I can tell, the positions are fixed.

@bearknight I agree with you, we'll allow repositioning from the settings screen. Hopefully we can find a couple examples of others games doing it so we don't inadvertently screw up something obvious.

@xStatiCa I'm with you, I wasn't very fond of controls that repositioned every time I put my fingers down. And the control area on the iPad is about the same size as the area on the iPhone (so it'll be more sensitive than the 2x iPhone version). But I think the controls feel "easier" because of the larger playing field. You can move at full speed in any direction and see your next move easier since more of the world is visible.
