    Meteor Blitz Promo Code Contest!

At Alley Labs we're holding a contest for our new title, Meteor Blitz.

Rules: You must submit, within 48 hours of this posting, your highest score by the end of World 3 of Meteor Blitz. When you reach the end of World 3, take a screenshot, like the one included here, of your score and post it in the thread. (NO WRAPPING AROUND ALLOWED! Must be on the first playthrough of the Arcade worlds.)

Awards: The top three scores will receive a promo code for Meteor Blitz to give away to a friend AND will have a promo code reserved for the next title coming from Alley Labs!

ALSO, there will be a special, bonus prize for the first person who beats MY end of World 3 score (shown in the screenshot)!

lets do this! I haven't even completed World 3 yet. It's actually not easy..and Ive been occupied with survival mode.

Does Alley Labs already have another game in the works? If so, anything you can tell us? Hmmmm

You can start at World 3 if you want, but it'll be a lot harder to beat that score if you do! ;-) Yeah, start at World 1. The contest is highest total score between the start of the game and end of World 3.

    Good luck!

That score in the screenshot doesn't seem as if it could be right unless every enemy was killed by swinging with the gravity gun at around 10x without ever getting hit.

I've gotten to almost 1,000,000 without dying once (well past world #3), 10x multiplier (even gained it back twice after losing it the first time), used the gravity gun a bunch (not swinging with it though), beat arcade mode, and ended up with over 1.7 mill before wrapping around back to world one. Some of my time bonuses were good (around 90k), though others were admittedly very small. Even so, that score seems impossible unless there are some more secrets to the game that haven't been revealed yet.

How on earth do you get the gravity gun swing move to work consistently? Following the video posted in the MB thread, I was able to get the swing move to work a bit at a time, but the problem remains that most enemies - even large ones - grabbed with the gravity gun while moving (even grabbed perpendicular to the enemy, as per the video) only swing around a little bit before the radius shortens to practically zero within a few seconds. My ship never stops moving, so that can't be the problem.

Do I need OS 3.1 and a 3GS for the swing move to work reliably? I'm just saying...

A few questions to throw out there regarding scoring:

    1) What determines when the level boss appears? It would be useful to know whether it is time, number of enemies killed, movement related, etc. I always wait for the red enemy indicator arrows to suddenly include a larger, bolded one, and then follow it. Sometimes I'll use a bomb as soon as the boss appears, or just after it has gotten surrounded by a bunch of rocks and other enemies, in order to improve the level-end time bonus.

    2) Are enemy and weapon color related? It could be my imagination, but it seems that if, for example, a world appears with tons of bluish-white rocks and upgraded fire weapon is enabled, that it is more like a hot knife through button scenario. Also, is the number of coins released by enemies influenced by the type of weapon shooting them. I've played through arcade, both using only fire and only cannon, but not using ice.

    3) I've noticed that rings are also worth a few points each, which might partly account for the insane world 3 score-to-beat posted in this contest thread, especially if there is a way to make the "rings" power-up appear more often or stay active longer before disappearing.

I'll update this post later with another question or two.

Nope, it's doable. I just got 1.25 million by end of world 3 (took a snapshot), even though I died once after getting the 10x multiplier, and got 1.5 million 2 levels later (by end of stage 2 in world 4), so this contest is very reasonable. I used the gravity gun a bunch, which wasted bombs of course, but constantly hurling little rocks into bigger ones definitely made a big difference in score, especially when "rings" was activated. The gravity gun is also useful for quickly clearing a path to the boss when it appears. Tonight I'm going to try beating that 1.5 mill end of world 3 score.

Ok Here's my best shot so far. Now I need to do a bunch of things and let my thumbs heal up a bit before trying again. This game wore them down faster than any other. Right now they feel more like thumb stumps. If not for wasting bombs while using the gravity gun a lot, my score would have been higher. Right now it's very hard to double tap a lot without hitting the bomb button at least once in a while, so I'd really appreciate an option to disable bomb button and leave only shake, which works great with the sensitivity slider somewhere around 2/3.

wow, that score is ridiculous. i wrote the game and i don't think i can beat that. one piece of advice, if you haven't already noticed, you get fewer points when you destroy an enemy with a bomb. but then, a well timed bomb can help you clear the stage quickly to get a higher time bonus.

When you finish a world & snap a pic, it doesn't show which world you just beat. How do we know people are posting a picture of world 3... or not posting a pic of the wrap around world 3? Are we going on the honor system ;)
