    1) Backup your device in iTunes
    2) Install all your apps on the new device
    3) Restore your backup on the new device

    ...should do it.

You don't have to worry about it, this game is incredible. I know I've said it before, but it's worth saying again: this is THE BEST shooter on the iPhone. At 99 cents it's just a no-brainer.

    Thanks guys.

We're currently working on adding easy and hard difficulty settings to the iPhone version of Meteor Blitz.

And we're also trying out "swipe-to-change-weapon" controls. So far they seem pretty good!

We also have an iPhone 4-specific version in the works. Tentatively called "Meteor Blitz Retina", we want to take advantage of the awesome iPhone 4 screen.

Well - the best iPhone space shooter imho is Space Miner - Space Ore Bust... but this game is also far more than just a good dual stick shooter.
The game is surely fantastic. :)

    Meteor Blitz Retina

Sounds like you're planning to release an iphone4-specific version?!

Sorry, but I do not want to buy three versions of a game with exact the same content, even if the game is awesome. Because I already have got two ones ;)

Furthermore I believe, market fragmentation of the I-devices would be no big deal for developers, too.

If you charge for a separate retina version for iPhone 4, then it could be a dark day for iPhone gaming .. Too many versions fragments the Market..

Firemint already updated flight control and real racing for retina at no extra cost to previous iPhone buyers .. So you might wanna think hard before charging for a separate 'retina' version .. I already have the iPhone version and If you charge again for another version I won't be buying.. Even though I love your game.

    Follow firemints example

Just keep in mind that the devs have a lot of additional work.

I totally hear you. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if there's a better option right now.

At the moment, it's looking like it's going to take about 2 engineer-months to get the iPhone 4 version working. Scaling art is relatively easy, but working around the memory and framerate issues that come up, in addition to changing the gameplay so that things are actually fun really takes a lot of time.

(For example, we really wanted to ship the iPad version of Meteor Blitz a month earlier than we did, but at that point it just wasn't any fun. The framerate was slow, the controls didn't work well and the ship and enemy movements were inconsistent. It took another month for us to really dial it in.)

We also had to pay $1500 for our (international version) iPhone 4 (we're in Vietnam). If we don't release it as a separate version, I honestly don't know if we'd be able to recoup our costs and pay salaries.

I understand that we'd still get extra sales if we bundle the versions together, but we can't find any hard data that helps us estimate how much. And because our jobs are on the line, we really can't risk it.

Also, if we were to bundle the Retina version into the normal iPhone version, the code starts to get really complicated (despite our best efforts, the code is really complicated as is). My best guess, it'd add another month to find and fix all the bugs (which would increase costs even further).

Lastly, the iPhone version of Meteor Blitz is around 15MB, small enough that it can be downloaded over the 3G network, as opposed to requiring wifi. If we bundle in the Retina version, the size would most likely be around 40MB (the iPad version is around 30-35MB). We'd lose sales from people who would normally have bought it as an impulse buy over 3G.

I think it's really cool that developers and players can talk openly about this kind of stuff. We're very open to any suggestions, and we've discussed this a lot in-house.

If you have any ideas or counter-examples, can you please post?

    Thanks!

Firemint is a great example. I think any developer in their shoes would make the same decision.

The biggest difference between them and us is that (as much as I hate to say it), they have a lot more cash in the bank and don't have to worry as much about paying the bills.
