Yeah, it takes up too much space with both. Especially if the number of rankings has 5 or more digits. I was thinking about starting with "Global Rank 1234", then changing to "Rank 1234/12345" about 5-10 seconds in?
Honestly: I think neither "Global" or "/12345" is necessary. When you start a new game you got the last rank and know the number. And changing it every 5-10 seconds would only distract. Keep it like it is or even shorten it to "Rank 1234". Just my opition. And yes: the game is absolutely awesome! My only complain is the same as some of the others have: the disappointing boss-fights. There should be more impressive ones - at least in the last stages of the worlds.
I've had the game crash during both long and short sessions of play. Looking forward to it being fixed, but still enjoying the bejesus out of this game. Great job, developer.
same here, had it crash repeatedly on me and I have over 5gb free on my phone and i've had crash after fresh restarts
My 2 cents... I like the ranking system the way it is, but I would like an option to change the background level in survival mode. That dark nebula level brings me bad luck!!
I wonder if the crashing is related to the Online aspects? I know I've had games that do spot server access type stuff crash a lot of games for me.
This is a hidden Gem.... what a great portable game. Its the attention to detail is what makes it great.
So far, I've found 3 reasons for the crashes: (1) If there are too many of those red enemies that throw gray balls at you, and there is also a boss enemy, the game may crash. You can avoid this for now by killing those red-ball-throwing enemies as soon as possible. (2) There's a known and unfixable memory leak in Apple's SDK when we use the accelerometer and the touch screen at the same time. No real fix for this. It happens very rarely, and it can be almost entirely avoided if you restart your device before you play. (3) There's a known and unfixable memory leak in Apple's SDK when we do networking (for high scores and global ranking). Again, no real fix for this, but you can restart your device before you play to avoid it. Update coming soon!
I use the gravity gun more as a defense against being trapped by enemies spawning in a circle around the ship. Especially whenever the shield is lost, it is helpful to grab a small object and travel around with it in search of a shield power-up, and use it to blast a large hole through any enemy barrier that is too dense for the main weapon to quickly shoot a way out. Then just double tap and hold as soon as it is released, and something else will get picked up. It also helps to continuously grab small objects and shoot the red, rotating laser fixtures and grey ball hurlers while flying by them. If I'm flying through a space infested with the latter, double tapping and holding will help catch those grey balls, even without aiming directly at them, because the gravity gun works with a delay if it doesn't immediately lock onto something the moment it is activated. Probably my favorite thing to do in Meteor Blitz is to shoot apart a large rock with the gravity gun while "rings" is activated, and see a massive plume of rings come billowing out. The sound effect makes it all the more satisfying. I still can't get the swing move to work for more than a second or two at a time. Has anyone else been able to grab something and swing it continuously?
i love the ring pickup sound effect. when it varies between a bunch and just a few throughout a level it sounds like a Geiger counter.
Bought this game when it came out and still loving it just as much as I did the first day. Just deleted iDracula, Isotope and Minigore as they're not really worth playing anymore, this is so much better .
Grubjelly knows whats up I can get swings going pretty good, just swinging the ship as the object comes into it's rotation, and you can keep the swinging going for a very long time if you mantain the ship in the opposite direction as the incoming 'rock'. The challenge for me is avoiding collision while swinging, so instead I've been using it as a defensive weapon like you are. Especially since you can que the gravity gun before grabbing a rock.
I'm surprised this game hasn't broken into the top 100 yet. It's definitely one of the best arcade shooters out there.
Apple is featuring Meteor Blitz! On the iPhone App Store, it's #10 in the main apps "New" section. On the desktop App Store, it's #2 in the main apps "New and Noteworthy" section, and #1 in the games "What's Hot" section. Big thanks to everyone who downloaded, rated and/or reviewed our game! We would surely have flown under Apple's radar without your help.
Congrats Alley Labs! You'll be reeling in the big bucks now I think this calls for a celebration! How about hinting at the genre of your next game =O
Congratulations, Alley Labs! You could celebrate by doing what the Bat said, or you could celebrate by having more contest! If your games success here on Touch Arcade is any indication, then your game will continue to be successful for quite some time in the appstore!
