First off, I'm enjoying NBA Live (halfway through my first season, getting used to the controls and gameplay). With the baseline camera on, it's fun. I was hoping the game may have a one-on-one angle with gesture-based feints and jukes, but touch gaming is still young. Next time, perhaps.

Second, I really prefer to applaud vs gripe about games. But after a couple of days of playing NBA Live, I can't shake one big gripe. The menus are a disaster.

To be blunt, I could do make better menus and stats pages in 15 minutes with Photoshop or Pixelmator, heck, even iWork or Word. Why bother included statistics if you cannot read them. I have 20/15 vision and even I have a hard time deciphering the after game statistics. Not only is the type size insanely same, but the tables have low contrast alternating colors. The font also doesn't render well. The menus are really not much better. Does anyone want to see a monthly calendar style schedule? Why not a game-by-game day planner where you can swipe from one game to the next. Then you might be able to see recognize type logos instead of having to decipher logo emoticons.

They are just menus, though, right? The big problem is that the poorly conceived and executed menus cheapens the whole experience. They look slapped together, so I begin to wonder about the entire game.

Maybe others feel differently, but I think the menu pages are embarrassing. I doubt that EA will improve the look and feel of this part of the game, but I think it would have a positive impact on people's impressions and sales.
