I am disappoint! The retina on Puzzle Agent full version doesn't work! It clearly exists on the App Store screenshots and is even mentioned in the description, but there's no sign of it in-game on my iPod. I'm beginning to wonder if I should support a dev who can't even be bothered to fix their mistakes. Edit: emailed the devs.
Surprisingly enough, I never picked this one up. Mostly due to the "often having to pick the only available play" opinions I keep hearing. Love Dungeon Raid, found Puzzle Quest a little slow, loved Sword & Poker (1/2) to pieces. How would you rate it compared to that lot? Oh, and I didn't get Puzzle Agent until the sale, figured a lot of puzzles might be same/similar to Layton (partially right.) When I played the demo I was hooked because of the excellent story/dialogue.
Haven't been here since Saturday evening xD. Looks like Puzzle Agent 2, Pocket Academy, Volt, Maplestory Cygnus Knights, and Ballistik Wars tonight for me. Might check out Color Bandits, Mooniacs, Plump, Burn the City, or whatever casual games pop up high up in Apple's new featured list tomorrow. Pretty good week for releases, but not too amazing. Last week was better in my opinion. Next week is looking to be a great turn out though.
It's a valid complaint. I have found myself picking up mana I don't need because there's nothing else I can do and that's something that could be improved with an update if we can just get the devloper to hear our concerns. Regardless of its current flaws, it's easily worth the low price because it also does a lot right. I'd recommend it to anyone and everyone right now because in my opinion the game has the potential to surpass Dungeon Raid and (the iPhone version of) Puzzle Quest with a few updates and a bit of game balancing from the dev. If they could throw in an endless mode too I'd be overjoyed... time to go and suggest it in the game thread!
GameLab, developer of Dungeon Saga, is active on Touch Arcade and within the Dungeon Saga thread so fingers crossed. They seemed responsive to feedback on D.A.R.K.
astral? geo society? inotia 3? quest runner (when it comes back)? continuity 2? phoenix? backstab? foodies? (finally got over that disgusting (imo) character) danmaku? solipskier? landapanda? rolando2? (IK I said I would buy that like a month ago.. but then I bought something else) tofu? vs racing? save for independence day sale? right now, I've got quite a bit of itunes credit but I might not get any more for a long time. with all these releases coming up..... but then I haven't spent since sonic and dark last week and was on a long drought before that..... and the sale... looking to spend max of... the price of backstab.
Those are all good games, but none you'd really be crying without. I'd say if you're short on cash go for value for money and get an RPG, but my favourite games there are Foodies and Vs Racing. The latter of which is actually quite shallow, but the mechanics are nice... hopefully updates will add more meat to the game.
Backstab turned out to be another boring sack of potatoes. Finished the game on the drive to and from Austin. Pass on that one until the price drop. Deleted everything that I didn't find too amazing off the list, and guess what, it ends up a few cents under how much Backstab would have cost.
I'm not really short, I just want to be responsible with the spending. and I don't really need value for money since I have 200 other games. so going with backtothis's list w/o inotia (I've got like 5 krpg's I've still got to play/start (Z2+3, WF, chroisen, inotia2 maybe 1 if it doesn't suck, and a number of others and I've been playing zenonia for a long while now. grinding is fun in short bursts though. and then there's others ie.aralon and more) and with foodies. thanks bros. not getting vs racing cause I have death rally to play. but I'm not finding it a ton of fun.
Hold off on Backstab. Of those, i'd mostly recommend rolando 2 and solipskier. None are must haves imo. You should probably save for the inevitable independence day sale, and make sure you've got an extra dollar for street fighter 4 volt!
League of Evil is my favorite platformer. It has over 100 levels, they are all very short. Most levels can be completed in under 30 seconds. Where as RWK has just 6 rather large levels.
Just curious, but what's the BEST platformer style game of this category (feel free to include others if you like): 1000 heroz, league of evil, MOS Speedrun, Robot Wants Kitty. I'm only going to buy one (i have 2 dollars, and i think i want SF Volt ). Currently I've played the lite of LoE (got hooked on it), but i'll be trying the lite of MOS Speedrun too.... Edit: wow, someone posted a minute before my on this! Lol, still a couple more opinions (if possible) would be nice
I second this... I am curious about a good platformer as well. But I am looking for something that is not too unforgiving - I am not a big fan of the ones where you have to jump at exactly the right time and memorize the level to do it over and over and over again until it is perfect (like League of evil or 1-bit ninja). gimme your best!
You might like Max and the Magic Marker. You draw shapes on the screen, which you can then interact with. eg: if you draw steps you can climb them. If you draw a ramp, you can slide down it. If you draw a surfboard, you can ride it. If you draw a bridge, you can cross it. If you draw a hook, you can hang things off a ledge. If you draw a lever, you can use it to move a big boulder. etc. Very cool game. Makes good use of the touch functionality, in a platform game.
Oh yeah! I Totally forgot about that one! Backtothis recommended it a while back as well. I will pick that up tonight Thank you! I am also going to grab The Dungeon Saga and Street Fighter. Nothing else really appeals to me right now but you guys always tend to change my mind about something
FYI: Max and the Magic marker is only 99 cents right now. Also, i hope PA goes on sale when 2 is released tonight.
Meh, nothing else really interests me too much tonight either. Downloading DS and Volt as well along with Maplestory CKE since I loved the first game enough to play it twice, one time with each job. Might hold off on PA2 since I'm not in the mood for another point-and-click adventure, however good it may be, and it'll probably be on sale once I finish the other ones that I have. Probably skipping on Pocket Academy for now as well considering I've only spent an hour total on GDS + HSS combined after buying them both on their respective debut dates. Will probably just get the three games I mentioned and see if any good casual $0.99 games make the featured list tomorrow. Really been changing my spending habits lately, heheh. Guess I'll try out Ballstik Wars too, but it's really looking to be one of those fake "RTS" games that I despise, as in "rarely true strategy."
They had a PA sale recently, but I'm expecting the original one to be discounted soon, to encourage people to play the series. It's out, here in New Zealand, and both PA and PA2 have the same price currently.
