It's more of a hybrid between both. The two Monkey Island games didn't do it for me either, but Puzzle Agent is definitely worth playing through. If you liked Phoenix Wright for the interactive gameplay and awesome story, you'll find those in Puzzle Agent as well.
before starting a thread about this, can anyone on this thread recommend some party games? i have just seen inReverse and would like some more.
Just finished Ash..spent 10 hours total the past three days after buying it when it first came out. Holy shit. What an epic storyline. I'm going to go ahead and say it..Ash has the best written story out of any iOS RPG I've ever played. There's so much character development, emotions, the whole nine yards. When the game ended with a cliffhanger, I think I started shouting since it was just cruel for it to cut off where it did. Then I started typing this when the credits played..and after the credits came a three minute scene, which I would have missed if I wasn't too lazy to close the game. I thought the story would be resolved. Just when I got my hopes up, IT CUT OFF AGAIN AND SAID "TO BE CONTINUED." Oh my goodness, please tell me there's news on Ash 2. I definitely started shouting again like a mad man when the game cut off the second time. But yeah, best writing I've seen to date on the iOS for a RPG. I swear. The gameplay is also pretty darn competent, following in the vein of the classic final fantasy games. Battles are turn-based. You go around a world map to different cities/locations. You buy equips, gain skills, etc. as you level up. It was an awesome game while it lasted, and it's a shame I've waited so many months to finally play it. I definitely recommend it for anyone who hasn't picked it up during the many, many sales the game has had since its debut. It's now definitely one of my favorite RPGs on the iOS. JRPGs are all about character development and epic storylines. Ash didn't disappoint. I really need to finish games more often, heheh.. Probably should play through the rest of S&S next, only at 15%.
We seem to have something in common: I also loved Phoenix Wright but didnt like the MI games. Puzzle Agent is my 4th favorite iOS game of all time, definitely pick it up!
You can find my entire list if you go a couple pages back in this thread. Ill find it for you later since im on my ipod right now. My top 3 are Nova, S&S, and PvZ, in that order from 3 to 1.
well, I didn't get landapanda... cause I remembered I still needed to buy S&S. Now I just need to find room on my ipod for the games to sync....
Well, at the time of its release, Nova kicked all other shooters ass. The graphics, controls, and gameplay were extraordinary. When Nova 2 came out, it was already sorta "been there, done that". And if you look at my list, MC2 is on there as well.
I AM HAPPY. School's out, Puzzle Agent dropped its price the day after I decided I REALLY wanted it, Death Rally got an update, I've got a crapload of instabought games I have yet to enjoy, there are several freaking epic games coming out tomorrow night, I've reduced the size of both my library and my wishlist of games, and I'll be in Colorado a week from now. Yep, that's just about it.
I absolutely love the game. Hell yes. However, if you buy it understand you're not buying it for the campaign. The focus of the game is in the multiplayer. In fact I've never even touched the campaign and neither has alot of other users. Also the game has a steep learning curve. Try the lite...
Wow thanks for that. I'd never considered getting this one previously, but if the story is as great as you say it is, it seems like a no-brainer. And I played nonstop S&S since it came out and got to 65%. Havent played since forever and when i came back to it today, i was completely lost. I'd been looking for a game with a good storyline since I finished Broken Sword about a week ago. I'll get Puzzle Agent while it's on sale, and next time I get an iTunes card, I'll definitely be trying out Ash! Thanks a lot for that post

I saw that first article, was about to do a happy dance, and then saw it was under Mac games. I'm going to kill you. Got a MacBook Pro, but I don't use it for gaming lol..the iOS is good enough as far as Apple gaming is concerned.
Damn, can't wait to check out the NZ threads tomorrow morning..really hoping for some surprises. I actually saw the file size first and was like "HOLY MOTHER-." Heheh..
