I see you caved to GoF2's popularity but next time around Lara Croft and Crimson Gem Saga are excellent picks (to my taste those before GoF2).
Yes, that does mean PewPew 2 is superior. Actually, many DSS are superior to CW..you should really check the genre out. It's probably the best and most attractive control scheme I've seen on the iOS. But yeah, PewPew 2 is great, but so are tons of other DSS. Yep, those two games are indeed very good. CGS is in my top 3 for turn-based JRPGs, along with FFIII and Chaos Rings, and is quite a bit cheaper than the other two. Lara Croft never got the attention it deserved. It's actually one of Square Enix's best games for the iOS. Definitely "console quality" in every way and tons of fun. It even has multiplayer over GameCenter, which works great. Great, great adventure game. Can't say they're better than GoF2 in my book, but they're around there no doubt.
Pretty much what backtothis said. The story is really well written, but I found the combat to be incredibly difficult, especially after the first couple of areas. But the, I don't play JRPGs that much, so maybe this is par for the course.
Hmm, it was incredibly difficult when the game was first released. Since then, they've had a few updates toning down the difficulty of the game. But like you said, if you don't have too much of a RPG background, it's probably going to be a rough ride. It's still plenty of fun though. However for newcomers to the RPG genre, I'd recommend Chaos Rings as the only turn-based JRPG that isn't brutal in difficulty on the iOS. You decide the pace you want to play in Chaos Rings. Rimelands and Dungeon Hunter 2 are two other good choices for a first RPG on the iOS.
+1 Death Rally all the way. Found Reckless Racing to be a bit dull. Another great top-down racer is LilRacerz if you don't have that one yet. (And you can race against me, D.Relbs! )
Oh, I love RPGs, just not really into JRPGs that much. I prefer ARPGs and SRPGs (is that an acronym? strategy based RPGs). Like Baldur's Gate and Diablo 1 are my two all time favorites. Hmm, if Ash is easier now though maybe I'll give it another shot - the writing for it was quite good, and I like a good story.
It mostly depends on whether you like casual racing or more hardcore racing with destruction and mayhem. If the first, get RR, if the second, get DR. I myself prefer DR - it's just a lot more interesting and has more replay value to me.
Death rally in almost every way. Reckless might (based on taste) have some better visuals though on 4 gens imo.
Wait, did you mean your response about the game being easier was in response to something else? So is Ash indeed easier?
