Welcome to ta! First of if you want a good rpg you have to be prepared to spend money Your not gunna get far in the app store if you dont spend some money i mean you have a $600 dollar device u have to be prepared to spend money to make it worth while Anyway sacred odessy is from gameloft with an in app purchase of $7(which is needed if you want o play more than 15 mins) however i hear aralon is better- not sure of its on ipad
Yes, Aralon is universal and really good... didn't get the IAP in Sacred Odyssey, though. And Aralon's ten bucks, which shouldn't be a problem after hearing the pep talk about needing to spend money for decent iPad games.
Lol most of those games already have a sequel. I'd just pick up Prince of Persia if you still don't have it. MC2/Nova 2/Let's Golf 2 are far superior to the first one. Star Battalion is pretty good if you like the type of game. Real Soccer 2011 is probably the second best soccer game I've played so that's worth checking out if you're into soccer. I'd pass on the rest. Of course, I'm just talking about the iPod games that are on sale.
I'm tempted to get Aralon but and i like RPG's but never could get into one unless it had online play which i believe Aralon doesn't have...before i decide to get it anyone have links to some nice gameplay footage? so i can at least understand what makes it so special?
Get Dungeon Hunter 2 if you want online play. It's also a good single-player RPG. There's plenty of Aralon videos on youtube and in the main thread.
What Makes Aralon so Special: A RantIf you like action oriented third person RPGs (which I assume is mostly the case for online RPGs) then Aralon is the best on the iOS. There are expansive quests and a large world to explore in a sandbox environment so customization of gameplay is high (since you can do what you want when you want). There are some in-game collectables like the mounts that keep things fresh and compel further play plus the main quest is interesting and drags through numerous environments. The classes vary greatly in gameplay style adding variety on replays. Enemy respawn in some environments and health regenration add a nice arcade style element to the game since things keep coming at you. On the negative side some skill trees seem a little shallow and the enemies are not as diverse as would be ideal (I'm looking at you mage). Also NPCs are shallower than I would like. However, compared to action oriented third person RPGs on any other system Aralon might come short. Some of the battles are really epic (like the Ancient Linch with instant kill 10,000 hit point heatseeking flash attacks) and fun to play through. Environments are varied enough to keep things fresh so just when you've mastered one enemy set the next area will stagger you. ...but if you're on the fence then it might not be the game for you...
I'm looking for a game that could keep me busy for a while, preferably with multiplayer. I've got MC2, Nova 2 and Real Real Racing 2 so that should give you a rough idea of my likes. Any suggestions?
It's not a true RPG. It definitely has RPG elements like leveling up, gear management, and skill trees, but it's sort of a cross between action RPG, strategy, and the line-drawing flight management games. There is virtually no story and no adventuring. If you like fast paced unit management amidst battles with monsters, you'll like this. It's not as easy going as Zombieville USA though - takes more concentration and strategy.
