Man how do people live without alcohol?

Discussion in 'Off-Topic Lounge' started by Scaramoosh, Apr 1, 2010.

  1. I have never drank beer or tasted it from what I hear I am not missing much. I did have beer spilled on my shoulder once when I was a kid at a baseball game so I do know it smells nasty.

I never smoked anything, drank coffee or tea for that matter. Also I quit drinking soda a couple years ago. So how do I live without alcohol? Easy just look at my two brothers and the alcoholic lives they live and I say screw that I'm staying far from that.

I do think though I could use a stress reliever rather than video games though or movies for instance. Anyone wish to invent a non addictive stress reliever please.

I have a drink once in a while, anymore and it just makes me tired or sick.

How do I fill my time - well I play games once in a while when I have spare time. But I have a job, and I do creative work (music, art, and writing) outside of my job which kills a lot of time and is great for mental & stress release.

Balance & moderation are the keys to remaining productive and happy.

Everything in moderation. I drink when I'm out with mates because it's sort of social thing to do when you're my age (in England anyway). However I rarely drink in the house (maybe a couple of cans now and then).

  5. There are a million varieties of beer*, from national brands, international brands, microbrews, and so on, and there can be a wide variety of flavours, but beer in general is either something you like or you don't. If your first taste of a decent brand (i.e. not Coors, Bud, Old Milwaukee, etc.) was unpleasant, you probably won't like most others -- although I suppose that depends also on what it was you didn't like. Some beers leave a nasty aftertaste that could put anyone off beer.

Is this supposed to be some pointless/sarcastic post begging for attention in a thread that clearly wasn't going in that direction?

No, seriously. What was the point of that if not AWing or trolling?

    * Yes, that's hyperbole, but probably only one order of magnitude away from the truth.

From Reading the first post more clearly it seems you may be an alchoholic (or close to that point). I would go see a councillor for some advice. A verry close family member has just got over an alchohol problem and I can tell you it's not nice for you or anyone around you.

    Perv, why do you care?
That is great advice. I started going to AA four years ago and then found the Lord.

Actually, American beer is great. You just need to avoid the crappy brands that we've become known for. I live in Colorado, where there are microbreweries EVERYWHERE. Almost all of them I've tried have amazing stuff. A million times better than the cheap crap everybody drinks. It's annoying that America got a bad wrap because of those companies.

There's a big wine tasting event coming up in Denver soon and they've added beer to it just because their so obsessed with good beer over here.

What the hell is the point in that? If you're not religiose that is fine but what buisness do you have taking the piss out of other people that are. Next time think before you make an obnoxiose twat of yourself.

Maybe he is Muslim and just expressing his beliefs? (I doubt it but you should check the facts before dissing others)

Yeah, Aurora is about as useful of a van full of dead men. My theory, which I stated a while ago, is that he is just pissed that he ran out of puppies to kick.

It sounds to me like you might have depression, and you could be using alcohol to self-medicate.

If these feelings are strong you may consider talking to someone or even trying something like Wellbutrin.

Just a thought... Good luck, it's tough to quit drinking. At the very least it would help to change your routines, even your surroundings if you can so you can avoid the addiction triggers... If you're used to getting drunk and sitting in front of the computer all night, then it's going to be extremely tough sitting in front of the computer all night when you're not drunk.

It woulD be a massive coincidence, him randomly shouting that out in the middle of a thread after what that other lad just said. So actualy I don't need to check anything, I can pretty easily deduce that he is taking the piss.

I think alcohol is good sometimes. Don't drink too much, everything is just good until a certain threshold. When you pass that limit, it's no longer good though! :D
